Best fit for me NEXX Carbon and Schuberth SR1, but I find that out a little bit to late. Now I still have one new Arai RX7 GP and a - only couple time used - RX7 GP in my collection....
Shoei GT-Air. Had it a month now (Upgraded from my old Shoei Raid-II). I'd have to say it's damn near perfect. Less than half the noise of the Raid-II, comfy as hell. The field of view is larger and the pin lock goes all the way to the top so you don't get the edge of it in your field of view. I'd recommend it to anyone with a Shoei shaped head... H
I've used three brands..... Shoei, Bell & AGV Here's my AGV Skyline which I purchased at Birmingham Bike Show, only worn it once (Shitty Weather), but it was on a 130 mile ride to London and back and I was really impressed with it for a £250 helmet. Really comfortable and the low front protected my neck from freezing. Good wide area of vision too. When stuck in traffic (London) it did mist up abit, but it has the facility to fit a PinLock, so once I've done that I think it'll be a really good value helmet and nice for long rides. 4 In this pic you can see how the extended neck protection is better than most...... Keeping your neck protected from the freezing wind chill. I immediately noticed this when riding for long distances at a constant high speed on motorways. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's my Bell MX5 LeMans, which to be honest I bought because I could see the potential it had to be Repsol'd........ Simply purchased some good quality Repsol Stickers and it match my bike perfectly. I'm a bit in between sizes for Bell, Medium is a bit tight, and Large was too loose, so bought a medium and now I've been wearing it for a year it's fitting much better, but not as comfortable as the AGV.
Got these two AGV Corsa's to add to the collection. Also have an XR-1000. The Corsa's are VERY VERY VERY noisy, in fact there is more wind noise on the Corsa compared to my AGV K3 i use for daily commuting. So can't imagine what the Pista sounds like. That being said I personally believe they are one of the best looking helmets on the market. The fit is also excellent and with the removable inserts can be somewhat fine tuned.
I have an agv horizon. I find it quite noisy and it took a while to get used to the slightly lower visor angle. But I do thing the agv are the best looking helmets around.
I'm likely to replace my Shoei XSpirit this season, after years of faithful use. I tried a Shoei GT-Air on in the shop today, seemed like quite a nice lid and they have some good looking 2014 colour schemes. Other than that, it'll probably be a new Shoei NXR as my bank funds don't stretch to a XSpirit 2 nowadays!
Aria for me. I have been wearing them for more than 20 years ( not the same one) a bit dearer than some and the visor mechanisim is not the simplest, but they fit me well.
Replaced my trusty old Corsair that finally fell apart last month with an RX7 GP. Usual top notch quality, and a fit that suits my melon but...............what a noisy fecker, Lord only knows how they managed that after the Corsair, every commute sounds like I am in a wind tunnel.
doing everyday mileage and no doubt loads of visor swaps, how you find the pods on your arai? mine seem to go pop after a fair amount of use? so much so i bought a shoei as it was doing my head in.
Not for me Jimbo, the blacks on until the nights start drawing in, only time I swap it is if I work well late. So it probably only gets popped a dozen or so times a year.
Head my head in an Arai Viper GT for years but now can't seem to get an Arai to fit right. Just picked up a Shoei NXR seen here at the weekend on top of the old girl.
touring and evening ride out use means i swap a fair bit.... seems they are fine for 18 months then go all time
My first helmet was an rx7 which I didn't like because of the noise and vent buttons (tricky to use with gloves on). I then got a xlite 802 after trying my father inlaws. It was comfier (for me), slightly quieter, easier to change visor, easier to use vents while riding, easier to open visor while riding, visor has 4 or 5 positive positions and I liked it so much that I've just got this checa rep, and at £450 it's really good value for carbon, I'm really happy with it.
