Just to add to that Al, it's their 10th anniversary and a team from the BSB are going to be there so book early to avoid disappointment.
This is on hold at present due to some items which arose from this weekends event - Will update when more is announced so for now 'save the date'
This has the green light - some minor changes to be made but it WILL go ahead - layout will be amended to ensure safety of riders and that airfield operations are not impacted in any way
Great news saw it last night on Facebook, Paul Tye has some stuff to sort out but looks like entry forms will be going out over weekend. You going Al?
Yep - few of us will be going - we are looking to either camp over at Shoreside Fri and Sat night, or maybe the motel again. If anyone has never done a track day and been worried the novice group at this event is perfect and £60 for a summer event is brilliant value - even if you only do a couple of sessions I assure you the atmosphere is great - there is a proper little 'RAF Valley Track riders' club type feel to it. Also a very good chance some VIP / star guest riders may support the event
Copy of email from organisers for July event. As some of you may be aware from our Facebook page, our July event has been given the green light! For those of you that attended the April event, and lots of you did (nearly £10,000 in the charity pot!) the weather was a bit unkind, and the delays on Sunday were unavoidable for safety reasons, but when the dark clouds vanished, the sun came out and we managed a fair few 'dry' sessions in the afternoon! So everyone that hung on in the poor conditions enjoyed themselves! Unfortunately, the dark clouds drew over the event the following week. Without being able to divulge too many details, the event impinged on the stations primary duty; teaching pilots how to fly fast jets. This is a big problem I'm sure you can understand! There were other issues too, damage to the runways & airfield furniture meant we had to pay £3500 for repairs over the following weeks. It did look as if the event was to be cancelled forever, a great loss for not only the Station Charities, but to you our supporters too. But, thanks to the hard work by the OIC's & the team, we have been given the chance to run the event again. Great news! Unfortunately, as you can imagine, we are being monitored very closely now. And we have to ensure that damage to the airfield is kept to the very minimum. To do this, we are looking at some slight changes to the circuit layout, mainly to avoid the runway lighting. The changes will be small, and will only involve a small section of the circuit. The basic layout will remain the same, don't worry, as it's a tried and tested setup! If we do sustain a similar level of damage to April, we will have to end the event. Whether this is at 10am on Saturday, or 3pm on Sunday. The event will most likely be cancelled forever if this happens. Please bear this in mind when you enter, we will of course do our very best to ensure this doesn't happen, and it will be a very last resort! Now the entries are open, please email for a form. Numbers are strictly limited, the last event was fully booked a month before the actual event, amazing! So please get your entries in early to avoid disappointment. Please note, until payment is received (cheques cleared), your entry will be subject to being placed on a reserve list if the selected group fills up. We had a few people forgetting to sign cheques, ensure sufficient money was in their account at the last event... Many thanks! I'm amazed I've not been asked to provide a track bike yet for this - its only a matter of time till the text comes through... Will get my forms sent over this week - have hire van from Friday this time
I've printed off the form and will get it sent off tomorrow, I'm going to be there on the Saturday until approx 2pm when I will be leaving for the annual route 76 real ale trail which takes you to 12 pubs in the vale of clwyd, always a really good day if any of you fancy it after the track day. @Ritchierich: I'll ride over to the island with you if that's ok mate. Andy B
Cheers Rich, we'll sort the finer details closer to the time. Mrs B has just got her cheque book out so it's all sorted. Andy B
Sorry I`ve missed this thread! Yep as has been said earlier it`s all systems go now and the track changes are really minimum so we can guarantee a good weekend but not the weather as we have no control over that! But remember that we are being watched closely by people who are not bike friendly!
Ha, too busy flying around with work! I did manage a trackday and a day re mapping on the rollers last time I was home, now have a genuine 106bhp to play with ready to take on the mighty SP!
