OK I've never had to replace the chain and sprocket before as I have my bike 2-3 years. Look after then and never needed to replace them. But now after 3 and a half years i'm thinking mine needs replacing. So what is best to go for. I have all the tools to replace them but never done it so any tips is handy. DID Gold X Ring chain and sprocket kits seem to be quite favoured. As for the procedure, rather than typing it all out. Just watch this video. It's as clear as it gets.
Oh and when I did mine I used an angle grinder to flat off the heads of the rivets that I was going to pop out to reduce the stress on the chain tool and lessen the risk of breaking the chain tool pin.
Renthal sprockets and Tsubaki X Ring Gold chain going on this winter when she's off the road. And maybe some titanium studs and nuts from Probolt if I've been a good boy and Santa comes
I went for the Renthal gold sprockets and a DiD gold heavy duty x ring chain. I am very happy with them. I was in two minds about a DiD chain or a Tsubaki when choosing
I went Tsubaki gold X ring, Super sprox rear and OEM front sprocket, all standard pitch and teeth size. I like the ideal of retaining the rubber ‘cush drive thing’ on the front sprocket. WRT to removing the old chain, didn’t bother to grind down the rivets just cut it with my dremel. Tsubakis come with a solid/hard rivet, they are a PITA to peen down. Fitted some DID to mates bikes lately, hollow/soft rivets – much easier to fit. Triple check number of links! And don’t forget to take account of the jointing link. The sprocket cover is a PITA to remove first time
Also......might be showing a bit of OCD here but when I'm pressed the plates to join the chain I used a vernier caliper to ensure that link I was working on was spaced the same as the other links in the chain.

It depends if you want to look bling or just be functional. My needs are functional, and the OEM lasted over 20K of brutal miles in all conditions, and that's what I replaced it with, the Honda OEM kit is £170 and you get a DID chain. I have owned a DID KM500 tool kit for years and done loads of chains with it.

I went tsubaki gold chain with renthal sprockets -1 front, +1 rear made it even more of a wheelie machine. I took the plunge and bought a whale brand breaker/riveter. Cost a bomb but was very easy to use.
