So I finish work early,S.S.S (shit, shower & shave) suit up and make the best of Thursday's evening sunshine,
head out towards Preston and make way towards Kirby Longsdale via M6 north to shorten journey as the plan was to have cream tea in Windermere.
Come off at Lancaster and head onto the A6070 Kirby Longsdale,10 mins on the A road and made to come off the throttle due to a Peugeot estate pulling out on us,not a problem run of mill and too often occurrence for us lot.
back on it 2 miles later made to slow down again as up ahead a combine pulls onto the A road from a quarry blowing up chalk stone dust every where,we follow the combine 1 mile say and it slows down and suddenly halts.
This moment thinking way? blocking both carriageways when we hear the reversing bleeper sounding off!!!! WTF.....
Bike and rider in front nearer to the edge of tarmac franticly waving arms with no exit he drops the bike and just misses the 5' black tyre landing into edge.
I hard lock left stationary and head towards the grass verge and dry stone wall,in the nanoseconds of this taken place I realized I'm not gonna make it as I was more central, drop the bike and leap into the grass and wall only to watch the twat drive over my bike.
pick myself up waving arms along with the other rider by this time we are exactly in front of the Combine.
He stops I'm shouting above the engine noise turn the fceker off,at this point his world has just collapsed as seeing the carnage he's caused.
Finally turning the engine off arguing he can't block the road??? gripping a sarnie in his hand so he had some loyalty!
by this time other fellas ran out of the farm entrance 20/25 mts away.
his reply I didn't see you? "you never gave any indication of what your doing"?
Anyway long story short police called with the help of a phone app that sends location to them.
details exchanged drivers gaffer turns up and pale faced but very helpful.
Insurance company called and recovery on it's way.
A hour into the accident out numbered with sun roasted hand shovelled farmers it did cross my mind this could get a mucky! I didn't give a flying fcuk as I'll take any of them on for a game of pigeon chested finger pointing AGM.

first pic shows where he stopped as you can see water on the road, after driving over both bikes he then moved forward again,Maybe for good measures you how tough these farmer types are.

How did I stay karm? luckily my don't give a fcuk meds had been taken that day but the old me would of stabbed the fucker but I'm sick of prison cells and thankfully no one was seriously injured or killed and I came home to see my lovely wife, children and my loyal cocker spaniel.
so many what if's?why's and WTF's.........

Wow, now that's not something you hear every day. Sorry you had your day shat on by an idiot, and much respect for keeping calm. Sounds like you have life in perspective, and now you can go bike shopping again. Cheers for the story.

Could have been proper nasty that mate, but if he's reversed that thing on a public road without an escort vehicle or being able to see behind him then that's as clear cut a case of careless driving as you'll ever get. Did you get a traffic unit or a beat car attending?

I wouldn't have wrapped my lid around his head - it costs far to much damage to do that.

Besides, there's a reason why bike gloves have armoured knuckles....just saying.

That must be illegal to take up the hole road like that. Surely he should have had an escort vehicle in front with orange flashing lights warning people and getting them to slow down?? What chance would anyone have rounding a corner and then being faced with that!!

Quite unbelievable actions by the combine driver....but as others have said thank heavens you are still here to tell the tale......would love to see the claim report on that one.

Nothing like the greeting you get from a "Cocker" to make you feel better though

Today I've started looking into this via a friend/neighbour who is a police call centre shift manager at the Hutton police headquarters Preston, pinged over to a traffic cop this afternoon after he requested pics and video of the scene.
If it is seen as dangerous driving and if other procedures should have been taken, will the traffic cop report it??? think of the consequences of the female copper and shift sergeant that dealt with it.
Evidently the female copper was to finish her shift at 9pm and as the plod was called 8.30ish she wouldn't have been to pleased and she mentioned the bottle of wine waiting for her, when I made a remark about overtime due to the report she now has to write out,,,her reply no need for it already done??? work that fucker out?
