I have been a customer of Swinton for many years and have generally pleased with service/premiums etc. In May 2013 my policy was due for renewal on my 08 R1 and I was quoted £150 f/comp (through AXA) didn't think that was too bad, so paid in full. 3 months later I changed bike and bought the 09 RR, I advised Swinton and was charged an extra £199 wtf ! for the remaining 9 months on the policy. I had no option to pay the increase as I so wanted the Blade. 3 weeks ago, renewal notice from Swinton £350 ! f/comp. In have been riding for 25+ years, never made a claim, advanced rider ticket, live in OK postcode. Onto comparison web sites, I was able to get premium for £174 f/comp (with AXA my existing insure's) with protected bonus, reduced excess etc via Bikesure. Swinton you have just lost a customer
Standard for insurance really... One of the algorithms probably thought you were a soft touch because you'd stayed loyal... H
Not as bad as my deal mate, started biking again after 25 yrs without one, got a 58 plate r6. Cheapest quote being mce £600 fully comp with £800 excess, no pillion cover & no commuting .and 3000 miles max per yr unless I up it an extra 1000 miles for £55 After the first year mce say the policy will half. Come renewal time I get renewal price of £550. Phone call to mce and eventually ditched mce got a renewal off comparison site of £330. With Hastings direct. Now with pillion cover and 4000 miles per year and £500 excess. Then 3/4 of way through policy I decided having enjoyed the r6 I want easy riding and not up and down gearbox like a looney. Got a great deal on a brand new repsol blade at christmas. Asked dealer to keep till march 1st so I can have on a 14 plate. Rings Hastings to ask how much extra for remaining 3 months of policy on the blade. Er to be told we won't insure you. Underwriters want minimum 2yrc Ncb to insure you on the blade. So that's my second yr Ncb gone for sake of 3 months cover!!! Next back to mce having to tell them I have 1 yr as I've been skanked on yr 2 Ncb . Now it's £500 comp on the blade, no pillion, no commuting & 3000 miles and £800 excess. And before anyone' asks I'm 45 yrs old and have nearly 30 yrs Ncb in the car which don't count for diddly squat .
Insurance prices appear to have gone up recently, maybe so they can sting us for more cash in time for the summer. Got my renewal from Adelaide Insurance who I have been with three years. £245. I had done comparison quotes a month Ago and had found it for £145. Done quotes last week and the prices were £250 upwards. Rang Adelaide and they gave me the same policy, same insurer for £127 fully comp, protected, pillion cover, 3000 miles, £400 excess. Half price for a phone call. Adelaide guarantee to beat your cheapest quote by 10%, worth a try if your insurance is due.
whats get me is one company will say £100 and all the other are more money right up to say £1000 so how the hell do some off them make a living . or do some poeple pay it
Just renewed mine with MCE, £201 fully comp and includes their track day insurance (although there is £1000 excess with that) I am happy enough with that, and that's with every single mod listed, just in case lol
Waste of time listing the mods, they've told me they ain't interested in any mods unless it's bhp gains. Told them I'm putting an akrapovic on the bike, no extra money on the policy however if I make a claim they'll only pay out for a standard exhaust and not the more expensive akrapovic. So it looks like expensive mods ain't covered at all. Just another rip off
Let them payout on a standard Exhaust then! Most standard Cans cost far more than aftermarket units! Check out this online parts list for my ZX10, particularly part No' 18091 which is just the Can! A full system would be double at least! Kawasaki NINJA ZX-10R 2010 ZX1000FAF Muffler(s)(1/2) - Original Kawasaki Parts | Cradley Heath Motorcycles BTW Stevie_d I too came back into Biking after 19 years and went straight on to a brand new Blade with Zero NCB at a cost of £800 Fully Comp. A year later, this March just gone, I got fully comp with Hastings Direct for £326 with a measly £100 Excess and protected NCB! Can't argue with that me finks!
Only for theft from the Man Cave and whilst standing at Race Tracks and also when being transported. If I bin it whilst Track Dayin' or at any time when the Bikes moving under it's own steam then it's Tough Titty!
No I haven't but I'm sure there is one somewhere. This is the main page for the whole of the Bikes components so if U have a scan about I'd say the prices will be comparable for the Honda also. Kawasaki Motorcycle Parts / Cradley Kawasaki
Most excess have gone up to £700 and above, worth paying to insure against it, I ditched MCE who wanted £390 £800 excess, went with Express for £240 including excess insurance for £40 and legal cover.
Took a policy out to cover the 800 excess, think it was £5 a month or summat small like that. Ditching mce once 2yrs Ncb is in the bag. Touch wood
jay, I am with Hastings and my xs is £800 - are you 100% that your total xs is £100, and you are not thinking of a voluntary one of £100 in addition to the standard one of almost £800 ?
You can get excess cover from some companies of up to £1000 for under £50 a year too if needed Big excess keeps price down by more than £50 so something to think about too
