I was just minutes behind this tragic event. Actual saw the group leave the Podarosa. Penyffordd crash: Two bikers killed, five in hospital after horror smash - Daily Post Penyffordd crash: Two bikers killed, five in hospital after horror smash
Not a good day. Got diverted today as a road was closed following a crash between a bike and a van. Biker got air-lifted to Hull in a serious condition.
Thoughts are with the families of the two bikers who lost their lives, and with the other people that were injured. RIP fellow bikers
Hate to say this but it may be 6 bikes hitting 1 car... Could be either but from the image with the front impact misjudged overtake by lead bikes, panic brake causing others crash avoid etc. Either way its terrible news and one the Police force will have to respond to so see a return to the minimal tolerance approach to Motorcycles from North Wales Police.
Horrid news When I seen this on the news last night I did think" 1 car 6 bikes"??? someone pulling out without looking? hope the rest of the bikers are ok
Terrible news. RIP I almost went to the Ponderosa myself yesterday - would have been there about that time too...
North Wales sergeant Gwyndaf Jones, of the roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision or who may have seen any of the vehicles involved prior to the collision to contact me on 101.” The crash happened on the A5104 between Pontblyddyn and Penyffordd and involved a car and six motorcycles. The car involved in the accident was a Vauxhall Meriva. Three of the motorcycles involved were travelling in the direction of Pontblyddyn and the three other motorcycles were travelling in the direction of Penyffordd. Emergency services were called to the scene where they found two of the motorcyclists had died at the scene on Sunday, about 12.53pm. Five other people were either airlifted to hospital or taken by ambulance. The road was closed in both directions for several hours while police carried out their investigations. The crash was believed to have taken place on the Corwen Road section of the A5104, near the Capricorn Animal Rescue Centre. Volunteers and members of the public at the centre were the first on the scene to help the victims of the accident, according to the organisation’s Facebook page. They also said there was a "big explosion" from one of the motorcycles, despite their attempts to extinguish the flames. They said: "Our thoughts are with those families whose relatives were involved. It has been a very long two to three hours. "Our volunteers are shocked and stressed but have come back into the Sanctuary to carry on working with the animals. God bless them, all of them." Speaking after the crash yesterday, Inspector Gareth Jones said: “At 12.53pm police, ambulance and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended a report of a collision that had occurred on the A5104 between Pontblyddyn and Penyffordd. “The incident involved a car and six motorcycles – two riders of which passed away at the scene. “Five further casualties were conveyed to hospital by the two air ambulances and an ambulance. An update is awaited on their condition. Officers remain on scene continuing with their investigations.
