Had a letter last week saying they didn't have reg for new bike I insured 4 weeks ago,and if they didn't get it ASAP they would cancel insurance. So phone them and they say we have it here and ignore the letter, so today I get a letter saying as I have not supplied details as requested my insurance is now cancelled, tried to call them but all numbers are dead, have they gone pop !!!! And have I been riding with no insurance and on my record now I have a policy cancelled. Bloody fuming...dick heads
I bloody hope not I'm insured with them as well lol. I do get a sense of where you're coming from on this one dude can't say I was overly enamoured with their service when I renewed my insurance with them this year however sadly they were the cheapest for the time being. Will be shopping around next spring that is for sure and really hope you get it sorted matey.
As always some of these firms don't know what the other hand is doing. When I ring em I get their full name and note of what was said.I know it is a ball ache to do but it covers you if something goes wrong their end. This writing down just recently saved me a new key for my 123d coupe,so it pays to dig for information from who you have spoken to.It certainly pays dividends when something like that has happened.
Had me worried there as I got my blade on the back of their low premiums. Just spoke to them on another issue and all seems fine? Good luck on getting your issue sorted and your policy cancellations scrubbed.
I never go for the cheapest, usually 2-3 companies higher up the premium chain does me which tends to only be £20-25 or so. With Hastings Direct at the mo.
Sorry to hear that mate. I was with MCE last year. I got my blade nicked twice last year ( see tale on this forum), in order to save the bike from being written off and to get it back quickly to catch the summer ( having ridden every day bar one through the winter ), I played by the book and told them. I negotiated a recovery and due to my ridiculous excess (£800) I thought I'd sort it all. I spoke to MCE and told them I was doing it for speed and to save my no claims and reduce my cost the following year. They said- OK, that's fine just confirm you have the vehicle back and don't wish to claim. Second time it happened she bounced back quick ( thanks again Tracker) and I rushed to catch the autumn and to save my no claims and reduce my premium again for next time round. I told them it had been stolen and recovered and based on my excess I d pay the total cost and sort everything out myself. I asked specifically that if I took this course of action would it protect me in relation to reinsurance? I was told it certainly should do. Both thefts left me well over £3k down in total. A fortnight or so before my policy ended I got a letter from MCE offering me a new lower premium. I called them and said 'OK reinsure me'. After a torturous phone call I was told - sorry we can't find a broker to accept you. I said 'yes you can you sent me a letter with a ' just accept by calling and quoting ref ' promise. £250 TPFT 08 Blade, STD. Lots of new anti theft bits plus tracker, full clean licence for over 30 years, no accidents against me (no speeding points for 3 yrs either). That letter was apparently computer generated and not accurate it's apparently a standard renewal letter. I protested that it was an offer I wanted to take up- they offered, I accept. After a lot of debate they declined to insure me. I was pretty pissed off - yes it was stolen twice in a year but nothing for the 7 years before that. It got worse. MCE called me back 5 times no- one seemed to know anything about any previous calls and sent a total of 2 more ' computer generated' letters and 3 emails all offering to reinsure me for £250. The first few times I was told. ' I'm sorry Sir, it's probably an error, let's try again'. These calls ended with ' I don't seem to be able to find a broker, it's probably due to ( fill in the excuse...Two thefts in a year, my postcode, the fact my garage isn't apparently a garage and then a combination of all of the above plus - it's a Honda Fireblade '). Oddly I am aware it's a Honda Fireblade you utter tit. Not only had I been mislead in protecting my no claims and next years premium but they now blamed the brokers on the grounds I was ' too high a risk'. Eventually I told them never to call me again. They also claim to insure any bike- that's a joke, no actually it's a lie. I eventually got cover elsewhere for £560 TPFT. That's my MCE experience. I'm sorry but they are a bunch of clueless wankers. GaryS
