Hellllllllllllllllllllp got a Netbook , Toshiba NB250 with loads a Ram but it;s piss poor using Facebook. Seems ok here and a few other sites but christ it;s soooooooooooo slow on F/B. Any ideas ??

Facebook is normally quite heavy on graphics hence it will be slower. Don't know if you can run chrome on it, but is you can give it a go with something like the AdBlock extension installed. Pity you didn't post this a few days ago as Amazon were punting a new Tosh Chromebook for £199 instead of £249, nearly bought myself one to see what it was like.
Only problem with chrome books is you need a cloud printer, right pain in the ass! If you need to print that is. End of the day 99% of sub 500.00 notebooks are fairly naff, poor screen, poor touchpad, poor sound, poor battery life, etc etc.. IMO that is.. That's why after 25-30 years of PCs I got a MacBook Pro, load of dosh but damm! it's fast for the stuff you need to do..super light, amazing touchpad, screen, sound, batt life, and you can run windows when you want to slow life down....lol Pointless post I know but thought I'd share my new Mac experience after being anti mac for so long, something about a UNIX based OS that you just have to love.
One of these, upper end model, is my next machine. Putting Linux on your Netbook would be a good idea, something like Mint if you aren't too techy would be a good starting point.
Start with the basics: Browser - if you are using Internet Explorer, ditch that and install Google Chrome... this will yield an immediate and sizeable speed increase. If you really insist in sticking with Internet Explorer, then be advised that Facebook is very java-intensive... is your Java plug-in up-to-date? Bandwith - do you actually have a decent internet connection? Is it running at the speed you think it is? (Run a speed check to test: Broadband Speed Checker - THE UK's No.1 Broadband Speed Test) If you're connecting via Wi-Fi, some cheaper netbooks have crap Wi-Fi hardware to save money (as does the PS3, for example). Is connecting your netbook to your router via a cable an option? Is anything else running on your netbook hogging the internet bandwidth? Common things people forget about are: - Windows Automatic Updates - Google Automatic Updates (for Google Earth, and other google apps) - Adobe automatic updates These can all be set to manual, to ensure they don't kick in and steal bandwidth whilst you're mid-browse! Bollocks - as in local bollocks running on your PC nicking raw CPU and other resources... amazing how often this gets overlooked. In essence, whilst Windows gets lots of flack, the real problem is the easy nature by which apps can be developed for Windows, and the lax attitudes of many developers, which leaves unnecessary services/files/registry entries on your PC, clogging it up and slowing it down. I would suggests installing something like "CCleaner" (its free). This will allow you to: - clean old temp files from your harddrive (will help performance if your harddrive is getting low on space) - clean up the registry (which can have a MASSIVE effect on boot-up time) - easily examine, and if necessary stop, any unwanted services or "start-up" routines that your netbook has accumulated over the years Hope that helps!
start with this free program CCleaner - Download clean your registry etc stop programs you dont need starting when you turn the thing on and uninstall programs you dont need.
