Thanks for the heads up..... wanted to try one but due to the poor quality mentioned in other threads, there was now way I was paying what folk are asking for new..... anyway I made an offer on this one and picked it up (may fit it tomorrow).
Will see how it goes and if I don't like then it's going back to ebay and the Pipewerx will be going back on ;)

I really can't see quality being a big issue with a mostly hidden exhaust, as long as it fits right and doesn't leak then it should be fine. It's only the external fit exhausts that need nice welds and neat lines. That said, I havnt read a lot about Taylor made so I will keep this thread subscribed and read your review when it comes.

I have one and love it. A certain other 1000rr site moans about rivets rusting and falling out. Others moan it rusts as its made out of mild steel. I do not have these issues but the bike is only out in good weather. It can be tricky lining up but they do offer support if you have any problems.

    Quick summary:

Now fitted took 2hrs and was a bit fiddly.

May have to try and adjust position again as it is very close to the carbon panel on the very bottom edge of exhaust outlet. Did try
and adjust but it just wasn't for moving and I wasn't for stripping everything off again.

2hrs included the removal of the PipeWerx I'd fitted and the removable of the O2 sensor. The PipeWerx has a hole for the O2 sensor the TM does not so a O2 sensor plug had to be fitted. Unfortunately I was following the service manual instructions for the removal of the sensor which indicated the removal of the left hand mid fairing panel.... was half way through this when I realised it wasn't necessary as you can reach the connection without removing the panel at all!

Went for a short run and it is loud but no louder than the PipeWerx.... just different.... a bit deeper sound but does not pop and bang as much as the PieWerx..... which I sort of miss

Does look good and I'll keep it on for a while..... Must get new rearsets next :)

Couple of pics (sorry about the quality)

Great write up and nice pics. It certainly looks nice on a 13 Repsol blade! Reemember to keep regularly cleaning the swingarm as it can start turning yellow from the smoke.

Too true mate but on this forum there seems to be an irrational hatred of Taylormade (TM) exhausts by a small group of posters. I've got a TM on my '11 reg' bike and I love it for it's sound and, more particularly, it's looks. I much prefer it to the MOE 'trench mortar' zorst. When I first fitted it, on what I consider to be a well maintained and regularly cleaned machine, I was a bit shocked at the dirty/rusty condition of the headers underneath the bike. (See pic') I shouldn't have been surprised tho. After-all, I don't take the trouble to remove the belly-pan every time I wash the bike off and that's where the road filth gathers. After a few wet ride-outs, I imagine my TM's not looking as pristine as the day I fitted it, but, thanks to the nicely fitting CF cover I don't have to look at it. Critics point to the use of rivets in the TM's construction. Well can I just say that all (as far as I can tell, but I'll stand correcting) after market zorsts use rivets for the simple reason that, after a time, they need to be opened up so as to be re-packed with new sound-deadening material, and the TM's no exception. And it's a lot easier to drill out a rivet than to cut a weld.
And 'Stainless' Steel that rusts? Well there are many different grades of 'stainless' each suited to a different application. My last bike, a BMW R1100S had so-called 'stainless' headers but they needed a regular going-over with some wire wool to keep 'em shining bright. I dare say Mr, Taylor (who I might add is very easy to get hold of if you have a query) did some thorough research before specifying a particular grade for his zorst.

    Nick.

State of my headers when I came to fit my TM.........

I'm glad I read this post, as was thinking of putting a TM on the blade when I get it as I like the succinct nature of it being hidden away. I'd heard so e negative reports too yet come on personal choice and all that. Hope you get I with it and if not PM to sell...:)
