Had a call a while back from captain Jimbo to see if I'd be up for breaking my euro duck. Now knowing Jimbo and his antics, it would be a case of very few actual plans, and a case of see what the day brings. Exactly what the doctor ordered So the plan as it stands, is to sail from Portsmouth to Santander. Ride through the Pyrenees Mountain range, stopping off as and when suited, and finally ending up at Andorra for a day or 2. I'll get Jimbo to fill any other details (if there are any lol), and then head back to Santander for the ferry home. Obviously Hammertime will be our standard protocol after a good days riding, but the main thing is that we all enjoy the trip and get what we want from it with no pressures of trying to keep up, or getting stressed. Something that I spoke to Jimbo about as I thought we'd be holding him up a bit. Thankfully he eased my worries, and promised to get me into Jimbo boot camp to get up to speed. (Oh fook did I actually agree to that??) Anyway I'll update the post, as and when I have more details, but until then. This is 1 happy fella
Rest assured Colin. The maverick approach will be in full force each day as it is all about having fun and enjoying the ride.... But don't be fooled, no stone is left unturned in terms of our route and stop overs.... Little knowledge from Gary b and Steve will cap it off to hopefully make it a week to remember!! Can't fooking wait on the trip are Colin Myself Craig aka shiny side up Dave v Navvy Lambeth Abv Raff my bro in law Will be epic!!
I'll glean and stick it over to you all what I can offer, Alblade is also a very good resource around those parts Steve? Nah, he slept through most of it. I will say though Colin, the road designer of Spain must have owned a Fcukin motorbike. You'll love every bend. All though one or two may jump out and shout.....surprise And to end. In Spain it's Tiempo Hammer
It's my Birthday while we're away and this was meant to be just us as a special treat, remember Jo is already cross with you Jimbo without the bombshell we have monkeys with us. Best you explain dude
Colin and Craig miss the point when Jimbo says its all about fun and revert to the Scottish version of biking fun .
Envy Mode: ON Which routes are you going to take in Pyrenees? I'll be travelling via Pyrenees from the French side, likely Perpignan in early August
We roll of the ferry and pick up the 260 right across over 2 days, night at the beach, then head to Andorra for a couple of days.... from there back along the 260 to Pamplona then to potes and take in the picos national park area before boarding the ferry once more. we will use the 260 as our spinal route there and back with a few "planned" deviations depending on time and what takes our fancy. all pretty fluid really.
If you like a glass of Rioja, you need to try Logrono and/or Haro. Seem to remember having difficulty staying at the 120 speed limit on the road through the mountains south from Santander to Aguilar del Campoo. Maybe should have changed speedo to kph, though local plod were quite keen to wave us past.
