Sorry to see a blade in that state after a 16,000 service hope you get it sorted and when you are sorted to name and shame them I'm very lucky I got our very own Arthur to do mine happy days
Gutted to hear that matey. Not looking forward to my 16k service, may need to book a hotel down by Arthur.
Wow, that is bad...... when i had my 954 blade a 10 year old could have removed the fairings in the time it took to order a 99 cornet ! But i know the newer blade is a nightmare, all the best with this and keep up updated (i now have a Honda CB1000R so no fairing stress).
That's terrible name and shame will stop others going to them and hopefully will cost them some money, unless they fix it for you? These damn things are so difficult to prove either way though, which is how cowboy mechanics get away with it Hope you get it sorted
I'll name and shame them as I know where Rich took his bike... Tillstons Of Stockton on Tees...the local stealership for Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha.. I've had dealings with them before and they are the most arrogant ignorant rude and prejudiced bunch of people I have ever met. The first time was when I wanted some aftermarket bits for my Suzuki. I went into the Suzuki shop and the salesman gave me a look as I walked in like I was covered in slurry, the look got even more distaste when I mentioned aftermarket stuff. He sent me across to the Yamaha dept as that where the "aftermarket" stuff is sold. I went over the road, walked in and got exactly the same look as the first one, when I explained what I was after I got the rude reply of "We don't do that kind of thing here", (this is with a counter full of Oxford bike stuff behind him), "Who told you to come in here ?" When I explained that it was the Suzuki salesman, all I got was "Oh" then he turned away and walked off into his office and closed the door. The second time was when I was in the market for the Fireblade. After looking through many adverts and seeing nothing suitable, I happened to be passing there after being out walking my dogs. I drive an old scruffy Transit and was obviously not dressed in my best suit and parked out side with one of the dogs hanging out of the window. I walked into the Honda showroom and had a browse, they had an 07 HRC that caught my eye so I went and had a look, it didn't have a price or any details about it but had about 10k on the clock. The salesman trotted over with the usual disdained look and asked "Can I help you" in a way that looked like it was killing him. I explained that I was after a 'Blade and that the HRC had caught my eye. He said "Oh thats just been sold, sorry" in a smug way. I asked how much it was, to which the reply was "£5750", so I said "that's not bad, do you have any others around that price" He showed me to another bike, an '08 in red. I explained that I was really after either a Repsol, Legends or HRC up to 07 as I prefer the underseat exhaust. He said that they didn't get many of those in as they are not very common and an 07 bike would struggle to get finance on. His face was a picture as his jaw nearly fell off when I said it would be cash transaction and showed him the notes. His attitude instantly changed and he mumbled something about "if you would like coffee I'll see what we have coming in" I just smiled and said "forget it, I'll go elsewhere where I'll feel more welcomed" and walked out. So yes avoid these twats, your service book can be stamped by any garage and as long as they use quality service parts any warranty shouldn't be affected.
Lol I was expecting a PM off Rich telling me it was tillstons, such is their exemplar reputation around these parts. It seems if your a friend of the guys who work there (a few people I know are) then your sorted otherwise they're not interested. I have no idea how reputable dealers have gone out of business and these clowns are still open.
Any Teesside/South Durham/North Yorkshire riders needing service or repair work and don't want to go to the aforementioned 'Major dealer in the Teesside area' who these days, almost has a monopoly in quite a large catchment area (never a good thing for the customer) try "2 Wheel Solutions" in Darlington. Run by Ian and Graham who used to work at White's in Darlington, both Honda trained technicians, I've been going there for the last 2-3 years and I've always had great service, hence the recommendation. 2 Wheel Solutions - motorcycle repairs darlington, motorbike servicing darlington, motorbike mot darlington, honda diagnostics darlington, 2 wheel solutions darlington Keith
Disgusting service buddy, hope the dealer fixes/replaces the damage but I would be really concerned about the honesty of the dealer as they must have known about the damage. Is it worthwhile sending a complaint to Honda Uk about one of its dealers?
That is disgusting. If they claim they didn't do the damage tell them you will be taking it to a small claims Court. Unless you signed a waiver or a form which highlighted the damage to start with they have no proof it was already there so don't be put off. They should be named and shamed if they don't remedy the situation. But, like most people have said......trying to hide it and hope you don't notice just makes my blood boil. There's a guy call Ian in Lymm who does work and through very little fault of his my friends bike scratched it's belly pan. Ian without hesitation replaced it at quite large cost. The bike was only in for some cheap basic maintenance. Business's have insurance for this type of thing and they work on the basis that if they f**k up they are liable to put things right so don't feel bad taking it as far as you need to. I run a debt recovery firm mate so if you're having problems let me know and I will get on the case and word an initial letter to them.
Its such a shame there are dealers out there who don't seem to take a pride in their work or customer loyalty! It worries the life out of me, exactly why I stamp the service book myself and right next to it everything that was checked and adjusted along with digital pictures to prove i was there. Im sure it won't be good enough for some if I sell the bike, But I know it was done with care. When it comes to the big service 16k etc, I might ask Arthur what he charges to camp in his yard?
Well I've just been down to the dealership to see them about this and, to their credit, they took a cursory look at the bike and then said, "Right we'll get a new panel ordered in for you and let you know when it arrives" Can't really say fairer than that.
Glad its sorted rich. Strange turnaround in posts though. It went from 0-100 back to 0 again. How to redeem yourself in 2 easy steps (the dealer that is)
I have actually used them for a minor repair last year. They were really good guys. Seemed like a nice workshop run by a couple of enthusiastic youngish lads. I was pretty impressed. If they were a bit closer I'd definitely be giving them some business.
Well as I mentioned earlier in the thread, the dealer in question have always been good as far as I'm concerned. Never had a problem with them and they've even given me free washers and odds and sods. I know that washers aren't worth anything but it's the fact that they seemed keen to help me out. That's why I was disappointed with the state of the bike when I picked it up. It was dirtier that when I dropped it off and there were these few issues which it looks like they're going to resolve. Mistakes happen in any company and the mark of said company's quality is really how they respond when problems occur.
Well I think the tech should of owned up in the first place because there's no way he didn't notice that in the but good the front of house are willing to sort it out.
