We have indeed! 130 miles to hotel and lovely dinner and few beers... 8 tired but happy lads tonight.... And glad to be off the boat N260 tomorrow
Did the N260 last week from east to west. It's still one of the best there is, whichever way you do it. The pass from El Pont de Suert to to the west (to the river gorge bit) is as rough as buggery towards El Pont de Suert. Watch out for small pot holes. The rest of the pass has been resurfaced, mind. Have fun!
Sort to Le sur d'urgal (spelt wrong) is where a couple of my mates want their ashes scattered if it ever goes tits up, they rate it best road in the world when you hit it on a good day with minimal traffic. It's got it all, fast platue section on top, hairpin bends at either end, stunning views. Also look for main road up to veihla, that is awesome in both directions but south bound has the edge for me.
Yep, I'd go along with that. I did it the other way this year but it was the best 30 odd miles of my 3250 mile 12 day trip. I was on it good and proper along there. Stop and have a drink and a pee at the garage on the hill just out of Sort. It has to have the most impressive view of any shitter in the world.
Go to 6:30 for the road to Sort, then Veihla down to Tremp Its a good clip, 45 mins long but worth every minute!
We done over 400 miles on the n260 yesterday! Wow what a road.... Wouldn't recommend doing it hung over though lol Can't believe how good and long some sections are.... Almost get punch drunk from relentless corners.... All that I can remember is firebloke telling me you'll have to pull over before a town as you'd need a break! He was right Well this was us having breakfast and sorting the route out yesterday Bit of a lazy day today heading up to Andorra but all mega twisties so 200 miles or so max will be a good day.... And we all look a bit fresher this morning! Best get a wriggle on though as its starting to feel like a holiday
You missed cow shit road, but may do xantia road today, don't take the tunnel, go over the top pymorrens, lovely road.
Nice bit of brekkie fellas! What's up with Dave's collar? Was he a bit chilly? Did you do the Embalse de Yesa road Jim?
Just showered and on the boat having a pint with the boys.... Wow. What a week we've had Incredible incredible trip.....
Great to hear you back on the boat, I may try and catch Colin or Craig Monday when I leave Glasgow I knew you would love it, it's great destination for a bike trip, hence why our group who went for last 10 years refer to it as "our playground"
I did say it was a brilliant place to go, glad you've had a great time and just knew you'd come home raving about it! Anyone who owns a bike and loves touring should make this trip at least once whatever the cost! Never heard of anyone going and not wanting to get back there as soon as possible.
Totally agree Steve, the place is bloody epic. Never been anywhere with the such a variety of roads, scenery and just simple huge scale! Was fantastic and a must do.... My only gripe (very small) is the surface can be a little pot luck in places, perfect surface mile after mile then shocking once you go into another region who haven't done their section of the road. I'd still say 70% of the surface we done was perfect though. For this reason, the close proximity to us in the south and the added lure of the ring, I think Germany would still be my first choice for a biking destination tbh. But Spain and Andorra is better for touring.... If that makes sense?
glad you loved it mate and in 6 weeks so will I with ste and co giving me the guided tour . as of never done the Spain bit cant comment to much did love German roads epic it just getting there was a big bore motorways. ok you can go flat out and race some fast cars for a laugh but like you say when you get there them roads were built by races am sure
