This Wednesday for an afternoon session.. Any quick pointers for doo's and donts? Its good to ask, as i remember the first time i took my M5 around the ring and span around on the second corner and the rear clipped the wall...2nd gear too much torque... lol
I've not done Brands but go out. don't think to much and just enjoy your time. take time to build up and get used to the track. and use the instructors if you feel the need best advice is just take your time and enjoy
Do - Make sure your tyres are warm before you give it the beans. Do - Ride at your pace. Don't - Crash Do - Have fun
Set tyre pressures for track If youve no warmers, atleast a few miles before pushing on Make sure brakes are in good nick Get your elbow down Its a race so you gotta beat everyone Wheelie past people so they know youre cool Last 3 might not be right lol
Spot on As the guys said: Make sure your bike is sorted before you get there. (brakes, oil level, no leaks, tyre pressures lower than normal (30ish PSI dependent on tyre make) Learn the track, especially braking points on the longer straights and lines (tweak these throughout the day). make sure your tyres are warm before going full chat (2 laps hard braking/accelerating or warmers) Don't try to keep up with guys who come flying past you (you'll often find them in the gravel a couple of corners later) If you find you're to slow/fast for a group then ask to change. Take your time, you'll get faster throughout the day as you learn ENJOY IT!
Don't try and overtake on the outside as you go down paddock hill like I did racing there it will end in tears Most importantly enjoy it as there will always be someone faster than you and someone slower than you take you time to learn the track and you will have a great time.
So I put the baffle in back box...leovince.... And 104db...track limit 102db! Tester said speak to focused events, focused events said speak to the tester...!
Went well...passes the dB check...not with a baffle though as I ready had one...lol Not happy with focused events...guys attitude was a piss take... 4 of us...all booked for the novice group..my brother meant to show me around etc..as it was my first time..and when the time came... I found out he had put me in the advance group...and refused to change me... Did eventually get it sorted...but I missed out on one of the sessions... Over all..was shitting it...but loved it..picked up the racing line..and once told i stopped braking in the bends...and some forward planing into the beds helped..was not about top end...but making sure I learn to take the corners...
That poddak hill was wicked ..though on the last round..a guy did end up going straight into the gravel...as soon as it started...trashed the bike...but he was OK... Thanks for all the advise...was all noted...
Ask Jase about paddock hill bend Cracking corner but if you get it wrong.... The question is - have you got the bug?
Unsure...but maybe due to tyre pressures...was told I did get low..and ride fast on the last few laps . A few pics... /ATTACH]
Tyre looks good, you should get it looking like that on power 1s after you've thrashed them. I normally run 27-28psi rear on track
I'd say it looks a little off tbh mate.... Maybe pressure little high and could do with a tweak on the rear (god know what though - suspension / tyre guy will know lol ) Glad you enjoyed it fella, brands is a top track aint it, paddock is awesome and always get the feeling you are at a special venue there. On to the next one ey Be warned - this is when it gets expensive lol
Everyone's booked into Silverstone 5th August...trying to get a booking as website says fully booked :-( Off to south of France 22 August for 7 Days...
