I still have my old paper only licence ;)
As I have never needed to change it and glad that I don't have to renew every 10 years like you do with the photo licences :D

Very stupid to have a paper part as well as the card anyway.

A lot of people get asked to produce the paper element or counterpart of their licence for all sorts of reasons, whether it be for work, to hire a car or whatever, but what most of these firms do not realise is that the only people allowed and entitled to ask or demand to see your counterpart is a Police Officer or a court.

Nobody other than these 2 can make it a requirement to see your counterpart and in fact they actually commit an offence. In fairness, if you have nothing to hide, it is not a problem, but doing away with the counterpart is really going to screw some of these individuals up, and I have had a few who have looked very worried when I pointed out the above and actually told me to not worry about it, they would just accept my photo licence.

Again in fairness, they were only following the rules of those above them, which goes to show what they know, namely diddly squat ;)
