Had a ride out over weekend roads were clear conditions good making progress wind her up and F**K camera van!!! There were five of us in total all dropped the anchor but I fear the damage was done.

This was a rear facing camera van with the window open unsure if clocked rear plate so a nervous 14 day wait for a NIP.

I am a hgv driver so need licence for livelihood but guessing we could be up for a ban. Licence is currently clean would rather take points & fine than lose job/house.. anyone speak from experience?

Take it as you are ok until something further happens no point in wasted worrying you can't change things .

Really don't wish to add fuel to you worries Rich and perhaps not what you want to hear, but I belive the vans also have recording devices at the front of the vehical facing away to catch the rear end?
I hate the unknowing and I'm now at the point in my life, every time I go out im rather nervous for the next 14 days, although it can take longer :(

Good luck mate, and in this case, no news is good news.

For my sins i can. It took almost 6 months for a hearing, but you'll know within 14 days as you say. If you go on the Peipo forum there's a points/fine calculator. I used my job as the reason not to take a ban, although they did say it would have been only 2 weeks, but it stays on your licence longer than points, which means taking points is the cheaper option when it comes to insurance in the long run.

At the end of the day the Magistrate said "we are not in the habit of stitching people up", so they bumped up the fine and gave me 6 points instead.

Your right Gary, i was done by the same type of van so they also have a camera at the front. The trick is to pull up behind them until they go:D

Not safe yet. They only have to send it before the stipulated time.

I hate to say it but isn't it 14 days from the day they post it?

Presumably they have to initially post it within a certain time of the alleged offence.

They only have to prove they posted it in time. It's been through the Courts who are still under the belief that everything that is posted gets delivered, and within a few days. It used to be a get out to deny receiving the NIP within time unless they sent it via recorded/registered, but that cost them too much money so they simply picked up the goalposts and moved them into another country,
