Wouldn't be so bad..accept I am in the middle of SW.France facing an 800 mile ride with a bike that is on the verge of misfiring.... Even at very high speeds the engine is giving and taking power...like a wavering effect. A slight flat spot low down. And cruising at motorway speeds is hideous. However it appears to develop decent power full power in fact.. Its running consistently at 83 84 plus on the run, takes cold air to get it around 79 again..always used to run at 77 78 whatever...doesn't over heat even in toll cues never tops 107. Its gone when running from cold until temperature tops 80.. Recently switched to running 10w40 semi synth as was unable to get 10w30 unless fully synth. Has done 18k on the original plugs. May have lost some rad level and FI is getting wrong mix info and running it too lean? Has an akro and no pcv, but was running perfectly before this run into France, a little snatchy, as it was when new, but nothing like this. Anyone ? Pulleaase? If you seen anything I'm this that rings a bell lemme know..
Plugs should be fine, oil should be fine, when's the last time you checked your air filter, possible cause of poor running, remove and inspect, if in doubt take a short ride with out it, OEM filters are great but block off easy with fine dust and are hard to clean as bin and replace items.
mine registers the same coolant temperatures. on a hot/ warm summer's day (25+) I get around 81 at motorway speeds + a burning bum! Have you eliminated the fuel as a cause? switch to regular unleaded for a couple of tanks adding wurth injection cleaner to it. Looking deeper, would means having the air temp sensor checked and a visit to your honda specialist. i take it the akro has the fitting for the O2 sensor and that you have connected it otherwise your fueling can be all over the place I guess slipper clutch operation would be affected by the engine oil but would expect this to be more of a kangaroo hops rather than misfire. BTW the spark plugs need to be checked @16k & replaced @ 32
It's currently being stored in a very dusty environment, but it's covered and not run for long periods in there.. But it's getting close to 20k now never checked the air filter had only done 11k when I got it and many of those miles on motorway in France at speed. As for the Akro, as I said it was running perfectly before... So unlikely to be that.... I say perfect.. But a little snatch low down needed a custom map and pcv to hold that map.. But.. Nothing like this its rough as.. Is there a download to the hHaynes my manual anywhere in the group.. Is that allowed or the Honda one, need the access to air filter procedure..... Nice to know what I'm doing... Ahead of doing it.. Don't wanna break anything here in France....
Sorry about the two pics lol....tablet... Do you think some of this went in my air filter lol..doh..has to be it...
Air filter is the primary feed for the motor, the more it closes off over time the less air the engine has to breath, mixture goes tits up and bam you have a poor running engine, you have to check the primary things first, air filter & fuel feed are two key points, my guess would be your filter is full of crud, if not then check tank for water etc, after that plug condition and so on...
You know what's so stupid..I've been building bikes since I was a kid...but somehow this gleaming partially computerised lump between my legs, daunts me technically speaking...has to be filter...simply has to be...
It's not as bad when you look at the systems one by one: fuel, air, spark, you just have to familiarise yourself with the bike. ECU and sensors connected to it, fuel delivery system i.e pump and injectors, air filter/airbox, ignition system and so on, once you have you will be right at home Tbh there are not that many sensors and control units involved. ECU - Inlet air presure sensor, airbox presure sensor, engine temp sensor, knock sensor, fuel level sensor, cam position sensor, crank sensor (may have missed one ) Problem is the ECU takes data from them all and then determines how to fuel the engine, yes if one is dieing you can have a run round to find it but most of the time if thats the case the ECU will flag up a FI code. Without knowing the condition of the basics its impossible to diagnose the problem.
