Im struggling a bit with mine, only had it a few weeks but the seat has me all over the place. Doesnt feel as good as the 954 Im gonna have a tinker about with suspension etc. Are there any aftermarket seats or tips to get the seat a little grippier as I slide about all over.
I had a bad experience with Stompgrip so sort of put me off. I noticed a few other brands I might give a try though. I probably just need to stop being soft.
My experience of my 2010 model is that it wasn't comfy to ride; it just didn't feel right & I was never sure where to sit to feel like I was locking in a little on the bends. Its great for me now, but I had to fit different rear-sets (same height but 30mm back) & a racing tank cover. I also lowered the front by a few mm. It feels just like my lads R1 now.......
yeah stomps are not so god for the leathers, but I mine are two years old now and no real problems, so will keep them, as they do leave me fully locked onto bike while hanging of it and under hard braking
Hi I can make this easy for you..... i too had the same considerations...... Put simply The KTM RC8 is the most comfortable sports bike on the market world wide...... this due to adjustable pegs, bars, and seat..... i loved the comfort it got back into sports bikes..... However i didnt buy it for two reasons 1.i dont like vtwins and 2.i wouldnt buy a high performance bike without ABS.. But i am affected by having test ridden the ultimate comfort super sport and question the comfort of the blade i am 5.7 and 13 st its ok but not great.
You can get a custom seat built for you that has a stickier texture to it. Normally the guy does it with foam inside for around £75, or he does it with a gel insert for £125 all plus postage which I'm sure is £12. I have had the last 3 of my bikes done by the same guy and every time I'm well impressed. More than a few others on here have they're seats done by him. If you need any details pm me.
It all depends what your looking for mate! It's the complete package that suits you! I'm the same height and weight as you and I love my Blade I could make it more comfortable if I was willing to spend some hard earned but I'm happy with the way she feels I feel plugged in when I ride her! The only thing I refused to have on my Blade was the abs if it had been equipped with the tried and tested Bosch system then I wouldn't have a problem as I want a direct link to my pads and not some software and servos stopping me and this was even before the issues the developed but that's of topic sorry! I tried a ZZR 1400 last year and it blew me away not because of it's new gizmos like TC etc but they way it felt for such a big machine very nimble, fast and extremely comfortable and a shit load of road presence all most Moses style parting of the traffic! But I jumped back on the Blade and she just feels special I'm at home! I can forgive any lack of comfort for her confidence inspiring undiluted pure riding experience not to mention reliability and track and road achievements and she FAST as fook! All bikes are the same in design its all about choice and what one does it for you dude
I've not had a problem with comfort on the Blade, im only a short arse at 5' 5". I have done a couple of long trips since getting the bike (1 approx 1900 miles in 6 days)comfort is so much better than the 08 R1 I used to own before buying the 9.
It's just the tank cover (shelter); the tank itself is unchanged. It's higher at the rear which makes it easier to hold on with the inside of the leg. Most racing Blades have this type of tank cover.
Love that! So my shoulders ache quicker on an S1000RR because my forward lean angle is greater, and hips don't lie!
Yes thanks but i know all that lol . My question was if you feel a difference and if you prefer or not ?
Kawasaki ZX9R is the only truly comfortable sports bike to ride .. but its out of date. I think upon reflection the R1 and the S1000RR are marginally more comfortable to ride .. but it has to be marginal .. I have just ridden 1390Km in one day on the CBR1000RR 2010 .. match that.
Unfortunately I've reached the age of 53 now and even sneezing makes me ache lol, and yes I've started making old man noises to, but I have recently bought a 2012 Blade and manage to ride it all day long without any problems.
