Looking to try some slicks after my Dunlop D212 get past there best, anyone tried the Continental race attack slick, soft front 120x70 medium rear 190x60? They seem a very reasonable price, as long as reasonable doesn't mean less grip than my Dunlops
Why not just go for the dunlop KR106/KR108? Its the slick version of the D212 and its the best tyre ive ever used
I dont know much about those other than i have a treaded rear Race Attack in the garage which feels quite soft, but there are some Pirelli slick on TDR for £100 if that helps? http://www.trackdayriders.co.uk/tdr/forum/scrubs_topic49435.html
Trouble is they are the same price as the D212 at £350 a pair, the Continentals are £100 cheaper and I have read good reports, just wanted to know if anyone on here has used them, to give me first hand knowledge of them? I do love the D212's, so am sure the KR106/108 are great too, but then £100 is £100 if the the Conti's are as good?
am after new tyres though Gary, if I can get them at a reasonable price these are the slicks I was looking at: Continental Race Attack Tire Testing - Vo Knows - Motorcycle USA
The writeup seems to big them up and cheaper than the competition too. I dont really know much about them and just spent the best part of £300 on a set of Supercorsas, but then I need the tread for the roads. As much as i can swap the tyres i tend not to. Might be worth asking the question on TDR as i'm sure plenty of slicks are used on there.
£100 sure is £100 but then what price do you put on good rubber if it prevents a crash? I dont know much about continentals for one reason, no one here runs them. Furthermore I dont know who uses them anywhere? Sure the BSB is fixed tyre but when all the teams went to Suzuka there it was a mixed bag of Dunlop/Bridgestone and I think 1 team on Pirellis. The dunlops do last amazingly well and offer the best grip imo. Their only downfall is the £280 price tag and the fact that they must be warm. Perhaps we need some info from someone who has run conti's !!
Pirelli Superbike SC range are ideal for a first time Slick user, been running them myself with excellent results and wear right up until me recent 'off' at Oulton, which to be fair was my fault.
Can you give me a link to the £280 ones please? I can't find them under £350 Warm is ok as I have warmers and every time I come back in from track my tyres are always toasty lol
I know what you mean though Gary, having just read the tyre test in latest performance bikes, the good old rosso corsa came top tyre again, beating the rest by loads, and I quote "makes full on track tyres totally redundant" makes you think ?? But if I could get Dunlop slicks for as little at £280 as Souleh states then I don't mind swapping them lol
I dont have a link, thats just what my tyre supplier charges me for them. Watch out for the french ones, apparently not as good. Never tried them though
Simon, if you want some more D212 Pro's i have 2 rears and a front, only taken of as we run Metzelers. £150 for all 3 mate
The old French ones buddy totally agree now all machines and rubber has been moved to Germany and France the new French made are just as good with really good reports from their first use at the TT . They are Motorsport and have new compounds . I was warey with using the French ones but not now still NTEC and the same rubber Infront motorcycles has supplied my tyres all season and he swore that they were just as good Ian used them to take him to 15tj in the IOM super stock TT also Phil Crowe is using the Motorsport French ones doing 131:00 around cadwell and 1:07 around Anglesey coastal so don't let the old bad reviews of the French ones put you off There are no more Dunlop slicks or treaded made after May 2014 in the UK Cheers wedgie
Fewwwww glad u said that wedgie as was worried when u stock of English 212s run out the French ones would let me down. I run 212 treded. They rule but think u should use contis so if I see u on track u won't come past me
I love the D212 buddy so was relieved to hear good stuff about the Motorsport French treaded by top racers who I'll never be as quick as so they will do for me . If I see you on track you can show me the way around mate
If sticking with treaded tyres then Metzeler Racetecs K2/3 Interacts are hard to beat! Ran these before switching to slicks and still have a set of wheels with Racetecs on for circuits like Darley Moor which ban slicks on their Track Days!
Not really mate, k1 & 2 the 3 is really a road tyre I think.... And don't be fooled, the soft options last better in the right conditions / set up and pressures from what the tyre guy says and my usage when racing this year seems to back it up.
