    I was out for a spin Sunday when a lorry flashed to warn me of a mobile speed camera, between that point and the camera 11 bikes passed and only 2 warned and of the 7 cars 3 warned me.

    I can't help but to be disappointed:-(

    Mate.....first either the riders or drivers have to be switched on to even notice the mobile unit, most aren't, that's why they end up with points.

    Plod are doing people if they see them warning people about speed traps. Believe it or not they do you for perverting the course of justice.

    Apparently warning motorists of a hazard, after all that is why speed cameras etc are located where they are, is not a public service ;)

    11 bikes past, sounds like a busy spot?

    I really must get back into road riding again, but not sure I would have flashed either as, if caught, you get more of fine than for speeding ;
    Have heard of cops being up the road looking for people warning others too :(

    Or Maybe I am just a Git lol ;)

    I've heard this too, but how do the authorities prove that you are warning someone about a speed trap?
    What if you are advising another road user to slow down because they are going too fast?
    What constitutes a warning anyway? A flashed light, a wave, a thumb down, a finger?

    They put extra plod up the road from the trap and look for people giving signs. Flashed headlights are easy for them to see, subtle hand signals not so easy, but basically anything they see that could be interpreted as providing a warning of the cash cow. They will come up with all sorts of tripe like it is not down to you to slow down speeders, or it's inappropriate use of headlights etc, but in reality it is because you are interrupting their cash*/target flow. As has been said on here before, it is no longer a Police Service but a Police Force.

    *The fines may not go directly to the Police but it does go into the purse they get their funds from. Even if it goes to the scamera company the Police benefit as they don't have to put bodies on the roads to enforce limits, bodies and resources which would cost them money.

    I wasn't aware you could get a ticket for warning people, how pathetic is that, if the soul purpose of a speed camera is to slow people down in an attempt to save lives etc then one would be helping by encouraging our fellow bikers to slow down at what must be a dangerous section, after all that's what the police are there for surely ? The police want to slow us down, we help, we get done!

    Was that the one up by the racecourse? We came back from the coast on Sunday afternoon and we got flashed by cars on the bends before we got to Willingham Woods. As you said the bikes weren't flashing but then I only saw GS and Hardly Movingtons on that stretch.

    Slowing down for speed cameras is for little girls, i like to fly past them at 185mph, especially in a 30 zone;)

    They did catch this porsche driver a year or so ago. It's scary when you know where they place the scamera van, come off the bends too fast and they have you before you could seen them.

    In that article it says just 10 of the 45000 people caught speeding we're doing over 100. I guess that surprises me that it is so few, but doesn't surprise as much as the 45000 people in just one county that were nicked for speeding. Just tells me everything we need to know about these convictions and their real purpose or effectiveness.

    You can just imagine them after the meeting where they approved the cameras
