Bummer mate .. Its a tough choice .. The HRC hugger is the nuts but Colins Guards are limited . Is there 12 in existence ??
Hi mate Sorry about the hugger/guard interference. Can u get a pic of the hugger fitted on the swingarm where the chain guard goes. I may be able to make a small bracket that will fix it if possible mate. Don't worry mate I'm sure we can come up with something
Yup +1 on that . Fitted mine today and had the same problem . But I solved my dilema by removing the last part of the hugger and used some heavy duty Velcro to attach that side of the hugger to the swinger .
BladeRR8. Would you be averse to drilling another hole in the brace, down slope of the usual mount, fitting a Rivnut and using that to mount Colin's guard(if room). I am doing it on mine this week??? Can we see some pix of the problem mate?
Hugger Velcro are you mad nutty you do realise you have just Lost 30% across the rev range!!!! Good effort though
Fitted with a titanium bolt (when nothing else will do ) My original carbon jobbie before the Colin cracker
Hi NT , Did you cut off the supporting bracket on the Hugger so that it doesn't go on top of Colin's guard ???
Cheers for all the idea's and suggestions guys the more minds the better as they say !!!!!!!!! maybe its just me being thick !!!!!!!!!!! would'nt be the first time, ha ha LOL !!!!!! I have got to dash out right now but will post some pictures of how the hugger is mounted asap when I get back, but the genuine Honda Carbon Hugger mounts differently to Dan's and Nutty Tart's huggers but hopefully someone can think of a solution althought I don't fancy drilling my swingarm I must admit. NOTE FOR ColinBR - You inbox is full mate and stopping me replying to your PM
Yup .. as bladeRR8 says the two don't play well together , its that top bit that interferes with Colin's bracket. So I cut it off and put a nice length of sticky HD Velcro on the inside of the swinger .. sorted Its a bit of a no return fix .. couldn't sell the hugger on after .. but I am really happy to have the bike just as I want and don't mind making changes. permanent or otherwise
Nutty Tart I'm glad you have found a solution your happy with but if you don't mind me asking, if the velcro lets go, will the part of the hugger which was velcro'd to the swingarm be released directly into a high speed rotating chain ? If my reckoning is right that sounds a little dangerous to me, i.e. a foreign object jamming into the chain whilst your riding, just thought it worth mentioning as I would'nt want you getting hurt, hopefully I have it completely wrong and your solution is sound.
Some photos which might help show the problem a little better. The chain guard sits far to high on the rubber grommet and metal washer arrangement and even if I remove these the side of the guard will not fit up flush with the inside of the swingarm to make it secure as there is a gap between the hugger and swingarm which allows the chain guard to pivot around the bolt if that makes sense.
OK I can see your concern but my hugger is pushing against the swinger naturally without help. The bolt I removed actually held that part a couple of mm off the swinger So the Velcro is under no strain at all. But I will be having the wheel out to fit another bit of Bling over the winter and I will be putting a bolt in there instead of the Velcro
I know ... I know ..... its because I had a deprived childhood. You could probably get a whole symposium outta my desperate need to be loved and my comfort spending , buying items that in my eyes will increase my self worth. On the other hand it could just be its been a good month an its better than smoking or drinking
