Quick question, sorry if it's already been discussed but I'm new here The paint on my RRA doesn't seem as good as my old 929, I've just got back from touring Europe and where my knees grip the tank has started to wear thin, never had this on a bike before, is there anything I can do to stop it or just respray it when it gets bad?
Hi I have always fitted stomp grip to that area stops ant potential wear and is great when hanging off the bike
Yeah, I'd read about that and thin paint on newer bikes. I now use venture shield or the oxford equivalent to protect those areas. I didn't buy the proper kit, just on a roll that I then cut to size. Oxford stuff is much thicker and harder to cut to size, but both are pretty much invisible on the bike.
yes, its the only thing I've been disappointed in with this blade, i taped up the tail section to protect the paint where the luggage went but even that suffered a little, not as bad as where my knees go mind i never thought of the stomp grip....could be a good plan
I used that rubber web stuff for the tail unit when putting the luggage on, and that seems pretty good. can get it in J&S and likely loads of other places. On my old blade I noticed the paint wearing a bit on the frame, which was even more unusual.
I had the same frame paint wear on my 2008, Honda have put a longer bit of plastic below the tank cover on the later models to protect the frame - don't have the same problem on my 2013.
I think Honda new the blade wasn't going to be as fast as the competition so had the bikes sprayed at the Suzuki factory. I got some of those R&G eazi grip pads for that area, just as trippy as stomp grips but half the price
Yeh it was a 2010 I had before, now got the Anniversary one. No problem now. Also have Stomp grip fitted too.
I'm seriously unhappy with the paint on my RR8 on fairing and frame, they're taking skimping to the extreme.
Probably so you buy more (exaggerated priced) panels when they are seriously stone-chipped. That's why I bought a second set whilst my originals are put away unmarked.I've repaired my nosecone 3 times through cracks & chips. The front of the fairings are showing lots of stone-chips so maybe another paint job for me over the winter.Even new cars are the same, the paint is not as durable as cars of 10yrs old+.
Europe is partially responsible for paint problems. The laws they introduced to stop the "good" but environmentally unfriendly paint that lasted for years, and forced the use of crap environmentally friendly paint that is crap and leads to more resprays and panels being bought. Of course the manufacturers also took the opportunity to save pennies.
Water based paint is widely used now but you still need 2k laquer to cover it.Which is another crap law to come out of Brussels.
Huh, this is my 2nd nose cone for the same reasons, I'm all for keeping it green but I don't know how much more of this defective quality I can stand, keep it up and I'm invading Brussels ! As for top dressed tarmac....
yes mine only has 8k miles on it and already has several stone chips as well as the wearing paint on the tank and tail section .............sold my rry after putting almost 40k on it and it barely had a mark on it........saying that still love the RR-A, just wish the paint was better
hahaha come on man the paint jobs aint that bad, at least the paint on the engine casings ect stays on lol.
To be honest i've got a 09 Repsol with 8k on it and she still scrubs up well, also helps being up front
