I took my bike to a local workshop at the weekend as they were offering free power runs. I was quite happy with what I got with just the generic Yoshimura RS5 map for my PC3 from their website (Euro model). I went out yesterday and swapped bikes with my mate on the ride home (R1). When we got back he was far from complimentary. Was whinging about my tyres amongst other things but mostly about the fueling lower down the rev range. Nothing was suggested on the dyno and every blade ive owned has been a bit lumpy non the bottom end (Ooo er). Is this something I should be concerned about? The blade fells spot on, no flat spots etc. Discuss.
Its not so much what he thinks, im not arsed about that in the slightest. Was just if there was something that needed addressing or not. I feel probably not. He has always picked faults with what ever bike ive bought so nothing unusual really lol. As it happens I liked the R1. I should have told him it was shit.
His bike is different from yours. Denzil when from a 99 R1 to 12 blade and said you need to use more revs that he did on the Yam As long as your happy who cares what someone else thinks. When I posted on here about the dyno results I had of 165BHP at the back wheel I was told by a few that that was low. But I was happy with it and having 165BHP at the wheels is fecking quick enough for me. So as long as you enjoy the bike and are happy with it then thats all the counts
165bhp at the rear wheel is very good, that equates to around 190bhp at the crank. That's a lot more than Mr. Honda intended. Stanley your bike made pretty much what mine did on the dyno. I gort 158bhp at the rear wheel. Mines got a full Ti Ackro system and a custom map. 04RR
mines 165 too. u may be used to it, u might want to get another map put in if u have spare money but only from someone decent. power figure doesn't mean much imho. do u have a print out and that would show it up straight away if it was lumpy. i felt better riding mine when it was smoothed out , but depends how much del u have for throttle id say
Exactly, im not arsed about power, thats more than enough to get you into serious trouble. More how its delivered for me. Im not gonna do anything till next season now anyway. Stick some new tyres on it and ride the thing.
new tyres will give an instant better feeling. maybe book a map over winter when they not so busy and negotiate a cash price
You'll know if somethin ain't right! I got my bike mapped by a recommended operator from Dynojet website who was local! I had a feeling at the time that he couldn't be arsed and needless to say my bike run like shit after that felt like my clutch was slipping with no midrange and mega snatchy down low! So I contacted Dynojet and they told me to download suitable maps from the site (that made a huge difference)and pop down to Preston to their HQ and they would do it free of charge! So I went back to the local guy got a refund he didn't argue (he knew he was guilty) and use the refund for petrol to travel to Preston! The thing is the local operator race prepared Dennis Hobbs 848 for BSB Ducati's trioptions challenge! So he knew what he was doing the twat! But the power reading are all different! Dynometers differ, if it hot and humid you'll get a lower reading! even the chains condition can knock a couple of bhp off! As long as the fuelling is sorted thats all that matters I want torque rather than out right power so I'm happy with mine
