Woke up this morning and needed to scratch an itch so?................. We've just booked a 3hr test ride on the 1199 and Maz is taking out the 899 !!
The 899 is lovely, mate done about 3,000 miles on his now and loves it to bits Then its just red or white decision!
would find it hard to say no in either matt black or the white with red wheels, didnt bvg do a test ride vid on here?
He did a test ride vid and then bought one! Mate has the 1199 been out with a ride with him last week... Would it start? Only after nearly flattening the battery everytime we stopped! Lol
Well today was the day Marion rode the 899 and I took out the 1199s. First corner I thought I was going to crash ! It wouldn't go round at all, when I did throw loads of counter steer at it it wouldn't hold a line kept pushing wide !! The fueling was horrendous felt like a bucking bronco at slow speeds. Once wound up and above 5000rpm the motor is amazing and the bike is very very very quick but was a bit worried it wouldn't go round the next corner so was having to back off. Managed to get from manchester to Whitchurch (44miles) felt like 244 tho, it's a very demanding bike.Marion wanted a go of the 1199 as she thought the 899 was terrible she wasn't have a good time either !! I warned her how bad it was but insisted she wanted a go. So I rode the 899 and what a bike that is !!! Absolutely amazing the handling is superb best bike I've ever ridden, jumped on and rode the ass of it, brilliant bike on the road, just lacked a bit of power, if it had 160bhp (140 standard) it would be a perfect bike and I would have gone back to manchester and bought it. Half way back to manchester and Marion wanted to swap again having ridden the 1199 she now thinks the 899 is a very nice bike will let her say what she thinks. Back on the 1199 and bloody hell it's fast but still refusing to go round corners ! Back at the dealers and getting of the bike Marion points out the rear tyre it bolloxed ripped to shreds !!! So looks like there was a fault with the bike , not sure if it was tyre pressure or faulty suspension but dealer wouldn't let the next chap take the 1199 out ! So in conclusion I want to ride a standard 1199 to give it a fair chance, if it handles like the 899 does well it's a done thing. The 899 is just lacking a bit of power but what a cracker would recommend it to anyone.
I think we passed each other this morning mate, you were on your way to Manchester and i was going to Oulton.... Good write up, and the 899 does get a great write up by all that ride it....
