I just fitted one of these: Akrapovi? to a 2014 Blade SP. Is good. I'll post a photo or two shortly, but in the meantime for those that might be considering one, with comparisons to a 2012 machine with R-77: Pro - Looks sweet - Sounds great on acceleration - Good idle sound slightly louder than R-77 - 3Kg lighter than stock (now I have to match it!) - A little more power, but not noticeable on the street - still got oodles of it. - Overrun noise and burble OK - Very nice quality, feels slightly better than the R-77 in every way (exceptions below). - Despite EXUP valve being retained, it is loud with it closed and louder with it open. When open and accelerating the noise is 'beautiful'. - All required grease for assembly provided in small tubes - nice touch. Con - Retains the EXUP valve (but minor as it isn't much quieter at all when it is closed) - Expensive. $1500AUD through the 'official' channels, not all that much cheaper from eBay at the time of searching. R-77 slip on was around $800. - Overrun noise and burble only OK, it retains the EXUP valve and the cat converter is no longer in the muffler. The R-77 spat flame and burbled mightily by comparison, but both EXUP valve and Cat converter were eliminated. - Kit configured for ABS model. If non-ABS, the EXUP valve actuator cable must be swapped over for a longer one (provided). There are no included instructions for this. although it isn't terribly difficult it requires partial dis-assembly of the spring mechanism. - Retaining system is not as nice as the R-77. It is a CF 'strap' that loops around the muffler and fastens to the mount rather than an integrated aluminium mount point. The Yoshi also has a riveted branding plate rather than a sticker as provided with the Akra.
Not at all, I was only addressing a problem I perceive where very little information out there on exhausts for the '14 Blade and the fact that the US and Euro models are now using different exhaust systems, so just posting my observations. My apologies if I wasn't clear.
Not within easy distance from town no but you can go a way out where there is little supervision and make the wide corners challenging . However, whenever I can I get to Hidden Valley.
There some decent roads on the way to Katherine from memory. Love the climate in Darwin and wish we had it in Sydney! Bloody rained for the last 5 weeks except two days.
