Well bent one of my keys today filling up with fuel where is the best place to get replacement's?? As Honda want £45 for a blank key I then have to get it cut somewhere and then have to go back to get it coded at another cost of £45!!
I'd be interested to know this also mate, as I bent mine on the a tour lately. I think I can remember a thread like this where it was said that a locksmith can easily do it and possibly code it aswell. I may be wrong though as it was a while back.
when this happend to my vw golf vw asked more than 300ish so i bought one blank key from ebay than got it cut from local guy than i cracked open both of the plastic bits and swapped original key with ebay key which was cut than glued it back so like that the ignition was still reading from original key did the job for me really i dont know if you can open your key see before you spent money
If you have a key that's bent you can use the HISS chip out of that one for the new key. So get a Honda key cut then swap the chips. I've found a hot glue gun ideal for setting the chip.
Not sure about newer bikes, but you can push the HISS part out of an 07 key, and then just fit it into another blank and get it cut at most key cutting places.
There is a thread on here that explains the coding it's in the manual not the shitty booklet you get with bike but Haynes I think Here's the link http://1000rr.co.uk/other-bikes/17206.htm Ask garyauk he done it off this link save pounds robbing dealers
Recoded a new key on an RR6 myself using a piece of wire to bridge the pins on a terminal block under the seat and turning the ignition on and off in a sequence, not sure if its possible on an 08 onwards. Cannot remember where I got the info from, must have been on the web though
