You know what mate. I haven't been on a motocross bike since my teens and I've been thinking about it a lot over the last few months. I'd love another go, even if only for a day.
Dan, the answer to this is probably bloody obvious because you're looking forward to it so much but doesn't it affect your back at all?
You can pick up cracking 2 strokes for peanuts these days guys . Iv got a 4 stroke 250 now as its a bit easier to get along with but on par with a 2 stroke 125 really . I had a shot on my mates 1998 CR250 last week which he bought for 650 quid in decent well used condition and it was freaking insane !! ha ha Cant believe i used to ride 1 every weekend lol.. What a powerful bike man , Crazy sounds and you gotta love that 2 stroke smell !! lol Get one guys . great way to keep fit over the winter . plus an easy way to learn to wheely and it don't matter if you loop out lol..
It will the next day mate but i try not to let my back stop me doing stuff . I gave up racing the crossers coz of it but it won't keep me off it totally . I got some great Painkillers and a very good back support and brace for my body , plus a brace for my neck and a cracking set for my knees . Iv spent more on protective gear than the bike lol
Dan it was a CR250 1998 I used to kick around with aswell. Absolutely bonkers. Second gear a jab of throttle and up she came I was only 15-16 at the time and I used to come off it shaking like a leaf. Even now when I stand next to 1 I think how the hell did I even manage to got on 1 never mind ride it.
First of the ally frames mate . Bad boys .. I had a 99 model for 2 years . I must have been 20 / 21 .. good memories man but i totally agree , how i managed to hang on to it round a track is beyond me now Got a pic of mine here some where
i desperately want one of these, its something i am saving for at the moment, if these stupid bills sop going out and taking my cash... :-l
My younger cousin has a cr250 in his garage just now. I think he takes it up the park about twice a year. Such a waste. Having said that I think it's an old 92-93 model, but I'd still take it off him in a whisper. Doesn't help with him being away just now and me knowing it's just laying there.
The Good old days .. Trackies , trainers , no gloves and a shitty helmet, Down the Tips on the CR250 on a sunday with a hangover ha ha Young and Dumb lol Bloody hell , Not far off 10 years old these pics . Actually not even pics , Still frames from my Hi8 video cam lol
Good to see u actually had a helmet on mate. I was that feckin stupid in my teens I thought because I was on muck n grass I wouldn't need 1. Either that or I thought it was tough not to wear 1 n try and impress the girlies. Bad idea
It's on then. I'll check out dates for Jan / Feb. The 1 and only time I rode a crosser, I wheeled it in to a static caravan...
I'd be up for it!! Know a few of my pals would too so think you could get some decent numbers sorted... Lol on the caravan mate!! Can't wait to see ya on one now
Off Road Motorbike School | Yamaha Off Road Experience | Tenere Experience Days/Enduro Training Schools/Motorcross Days/Yamaha Trail Riding Days/Corporate Days/Adventure Motorcycle Tours Probably too basic for you though Dan?
It was on a caravan site. To be fair, the only reason I hit the caravan was because my mate Ian (it was his bike), was stood in front of me & suggested I try my 1st wheelie. I rode straight in to him, chipping a bone in his chest with the handlebar, which then sent me careering off in to said caravan. My mental block on wheelying to this day, is all down to Ian Gavin!
