Of course it's you. Nobody else thinks it's curved.

Because Giv has been straining at the bit for other than panoramic phone shots of the build, I've cherry picked a bunch from the 'build so far' folder for him.

The whole idea was to get both cars in out of the cold, create an indoor space to work on them and the bike in comfort, and add a new loft to store garden and outdoor stuff. I've got a 10' x 8' insulated and heated workshop for woodworking, but preferred to keep engineering stuff separate.

The existing garage is early 60's so is designed around the dimensions of a Morris Minor and getting in and out of the car inside it was like exam day at yoga class.

So, it had to start somewhere. Three days of de-rigging suspended shelving and their contents got me this far.

Three days of graft by my builder later, the same view looked like this.

Some good old 'praper Deb'n' soil's cum owt uv dese trenches...

Don't know about the builder, but I was surprised at just how deep the pad of the old garage floor was. It's top is flush with the top course of bricks.

Of course, the whole property is open now so I was a bit concerned about security. Hence the Blade going off to a holiday home for a couple of months, but fortunately, my village is regularly patrolled by the Batman...

The last week has made it a lot easier to envisage what I'm going to end up with as it's been growing well, and how it's going to blend in with the property. I think we'll be okay. Most of the sight lines from around the garden has it blending in below the roof lines of the surrounding buildings. The roof trusses come on Monday week, then I'll know for certain.

Wow ,that's proper old Skool building method ! Massive corner and running in .
Nowadays we just just get to DPC and then erect metal vertical profiles and run in the face work to them.
Hope these dudes are picking bricks from 5 packs to blend in ??? .photos ok now but I might have to ship Barney down for the finished article.;)

Ah, you just answered a question I'd been wondering about. Why he had half a dozen pallets of bricks open at once on the drive.

In one of the few chats I had with him, he said he wasn't overly happy with the size of the pillars in the plans so he beefed them up somewhat. I'd not seen reinforced corners like that before but overkill is underrated in my view.

I'm shooting the day to day stuff with my compact because the light is going bloody fast when I get home from work. I can't get creatively excited about a building site quite like you can Mike, but I'll admit it's quite cool seeing a little bit more each evening. I'll have to use the SLR soon because I'll need to put on the monster flash gun to light it.

Yeah, they're panoramic scan shots about 120 degrees. Because I had to rotate to get it all in and the picture can't be curved it has to make the subject curved.

    Sorry...

No problem at all mate... as long as the "Judys'" invited will be wearing a thong and peekaboo braziers.

If you're serious on the "opening party" than we will be there...no question *

    * Ken is now thinking..."WTF have i said?"

    Wtf have I said.....

Honestly Si, I'm serious. It's in the air as it looks like it's likely to coincide with my operation, so it'll be after my recovery but a double celebration. New garage and me back on the pies, get some of this lost weight back on.

    Thongs and 'peekaboos' are mandatory.

    ...but not for the judys...
