thought I'd post a wee video from my first track day at Knockhill last Tuesday. DannyBhoy and I attended the Niall McKenzie Superbike school with Guest instructors Dennis Hobbs & John McGuinness. Amazing day out started with renting a trailer 30 miles away the day before, packing the bikes obviously. 5am up and get the bikes loaded up to the wife's motor (she has a detachable tow bar), Head to Danny's house and find the b*****d is still snoring, get on the road for a 2.5hr drive to knock hill from Aberdeen - stopping in Dundee for an essential box of 12 Krispykreme doughnuts Get registered, breakfast and then a brief from Niall. If I'm honest, as the fast group were passing the pit wall on the straight, I was absolutely shitting myself. The noise, the drama, the wheelie's at 140mph+ over the crest on the straight.. oh shit! And the fact i really didn't want to throw my carbon baby down the road if I overcooked it! One on track, couldn't believe that I hadn't done this before.. what a blast. After getting around 4 laps with McGuinness going in front of me, then following my lines etc, he called me into the pits and went through some tips for being smoother (and ultimately faster). Super nice guy.. Another part of the day was meeting HRCTrev! absolute toff! towards the end of the afternoon, we were all looking knackered. 9 x 20 min sessions takes it out of you! Then the worse happened. Danny lost it at the chicane and ran wide into the gravel. No serious damage done except for a little SP faring gravel rash and he hurt his shoulder. Bikes packed and off we headed home.. best day ever on a bike..... Watch for the funnies last 5 mins.. Me on the right, HRC Trev on the left, Danny next to McPint..
Great write up and photos dude and really glad you enjoyed your day . Where we have Mad Matt as an icon , up in Scotland you have got Trev who by the way was a legend on the Scottish road trip .
Nice one Kev! I had a cracking day mate and it was a pleasure to meet and hang out with you two guys! This forum just keeps giving!!! Great company with top blokes!
Haha LC not sure for me.. Would need a very understanding wife! Will just support the pals now and then I think, and let off steam on a day like this.. Best day ever on a bike!
I will post some footage of me including binning it as soon as I work out how to edit it. Quickest lap on camera was 1:02. Well chuffed with that...
I was so close to doing this same track day and watching the video and seeing the pics i'm kinda gutted i didn't! I just couldn't get the day off work and was apprehensive about taking the blade on track as well. Track bike next year Looks like you had a blast guys, apart from the one incident obviously
Hi mate I was on this same day on my Ducati 848. I seen you lads but didn't know you are in the club, I spoke to Danny in the que waiting to go out but I think he thought I was mental pointing at his forum sticker on his screen I don't think he understood a thing I said with his ear plugs in  I took a rake of videos as well just editing them all here is one of the sessions not sure if your in it
Graeme.. amazing day.. I was shitting myself that I would bin my bike but never felt that I would once you were actually on track. Garcher.. yes, I remember seeing you. Great day out eh! Just got my photo's from the day.. need to work on my body position for next time out! Lots of lean but need to move my fat ass over and forward a bit..
