Been in the hospital all morning and despite initially saying they were going to pin my ankle, after ct scans they've confirmed I'm healing up nicely. So much so that one of the brakes on my ankle where the bone was removed had fused and the dr thought it was an old injury Down side is they said I've been over doing it going to work etc and by the swelling and bruising I'm high risk of clots so now being taught how to inject myself with thinners everyday now for a month! Oops But they've patched up my cast (yes I broke the cast) and given me this snazzy boot which should help me get about a bit easier the hour a day I'm supposed to ha ha ha View attachment 26444 Now just a four week count down till the cast comes off! Happy days....
Glad your on the mend fella I thought you got a daily fluid injection off Dave anyway ? Now stop rushing about and CHILL !
Good news jimbo, had a similar situation with my fibula back in 2008 threatening to pin then didn't need it, sod the thinners drink more beer and vodka that will thin your blood enough
If you have an air cast boot they are brilliant. My broken ankle is 5 weeks old now and I'm now moving about on it with no bother. No boot on no more.My physio mate told me to keep walking with the boot until I can walk about without it.It's a little tender first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The more you walk on it and keep it moving it will heal up in no time.GWS
Won't give me a boot mate just the shoe to help balance and resting etc and min weight.... Said too many breaks to put full weight on and walk so this for next 4 weeks then off! Then phsyio.... Can't wait.
All good stuff Jimbo. I've had to do the blood thinners thing with injecting myself in the stomach too, bit hesitant the first few time but got used to it in the end, top tip is to swap injection sites each day. I'm off back to Stoke next week to have the metal bone thingy screwed to my leg removed if bone strong enough, so I've got my fingers crossed and looking to be back at work soon, it been a long 19 weeks :-(
Good luck mate, hope it works out ok for you. 19 weeks! Bloody hell, can't imagine that.... 2 weeks have been brutal. Feel for ya dude
Trust me when I say I'm looking forward to the end of daytime TV and back to work, never thought for one minute I'd be looking forwards to working again but there you go
Ha ha.... Erm yes! I was tricked into going to the pub and slipped on my crutches and smashed the heel in. Dave made me do it!!! The dr's were not pleased with him I tell ya!!!
