So dunno if you guys know but my bike went kaput at croft after a full year of racing, here's the damage... £1500 worth of engine now scrap.
Shit really sorry to see that mate, really gutted for you! I hope you manage to get something sorted for next season
I can ask my mate Tim who is a forensic vehicle examiner who knows his stuff about re-builds / damage if he could salvage anything from it or repair - but looks pretty fcuk'd to me challenge you have is balancing cost of gaskets, replacement engine parts, re-boring / re-lining it etc. A mate picked up a cat c / d write off R6 for of similar vintage for a good price - which prob. makes breaking the whole bike a better option £ wise
Exactly that, it's if it's finically viable that determines if it's worth the time to repair it, the liner damage is the biggest problem with that, plus the damage to the head, a good deal of the motor could be reused or rather set aside for spares, unlucky it should drop a valve like that and not something you see a lot with blades, what was the maintenance on the motor like, I.e valve checks etc?
Its an r6 engine that has had various work done. The guy sold it to me having had a service and valve clearances done. Only done a year of racing and ive changed oil every round. Hey ho it is what it is. Gonna try and sell: YEC pistons 28 profile cams Titanium valves Crank Cases/Covers Gearbox Clutch (stabdard slipper) Stator Arthur could you do me a massive favour and tell me a rough price on all these things used as I have no idea what to ask for them!!! Much appreciated
Ah ok! Sorry Mr Honda, that's my phones piss sized screen...lol Yes will take a look and get back for you.
