I did in august, The day after wsb. It was my first foray into track riding. Was one of the best days ever, Very Safe, Very well organized great instructors and fantastic track. I was quite nervous when i first went out as was my brother but we got faster and faster through the sessions and also a lot smoother. I cannot recomend it more. Infact I booked the elites on friday last week for the day after wsb in august next year! You have to do the premier first (cbr600) before you can go onto the blades. I was actually pleased to use the 600 first as you can ring its neck and not worry about going too fast!!. Sounds a bit gay! but I'm not that fast a rider but have always loved 1000's
^^^^ How much track time you get mate?? Friend of mine done it who said it was brilliant but a bit dissapointed with actual session time. He also thought that it was aimed at more novice riders (track not road) and that if you had already done a couple track days it might not be value for money? Said it's brilliant if you haven't done a track day as it's a little less intimidating than going on a normal td? If you get decent track time I'd consider it for sure.
Don't know if they do anything at donny anymore mate. I'm sure silverstone will be good enough for me. If it's good enough for Ron then I'm sure it's good enough for anyone.
It's either 3 or 4, 15 min sessions on track with tuition in-between mate. I've only ever done 1 stint on track and that was a beginners course at knockhill. It may not be the best thing for trackdayers but if your there to learn then I think it would be more than worth it.
I did it about 2 years ago when they had it at Donnington, Think its Silverston these days? I loved every minute of it. Bikes always got warm tyres as they run two groups and when you come in the other group takes the bike and you get a briefing from your instructor on your performance. The instructors all seemed experienced and with only two people per instructor so you get good feedback. I got shoved with a newbie on my first couple of times round the track which was painful as you generally do a lap behind instructor then the other guy does a lap behind the instructor. I found myself day dreaming as the other guy was going that slow. So they shifted me which made all the difference as i got put with a young Instructor that raced (superstock if i remember right) that was taking one of Ron's mates out for a jolly who was a older ex racer. They were pushing each other and having a laugh, and i was at the back of them trying to keep up for dear life lol Never had so much fun chucking the bike around and it totally made my day! We were doing the premier on the 600's and were passing the boys doing the elite on the 1000's made me grin like a Cheshire cat! would recommend it to anyone. Tanstair did it aswel and he also loved it! For the price and getting supplied everything and not having to worry about the bike made all the difference.
Did it back in the summer..... you dont get the track time but better 2 per 1 instructor..... will def go back next year and do the fire blade chrono group.
Do it you wont regret it, but as said before for track day nuts this is maybe a bit novice. Don't get me wrong the instructors all seemed clued up but think CSS would be more suited for the hardcore
i,d be interested probably moreso than tracki daying my own bike just in case of a spill. 600,s shouldn,t be far behind the blades on lap times anyway i,d guess.
