    Hi all,
New to the site, have been a side line spectator for a view months and have found the forum very useful.
I'm hoping I can get abit of advise/ help with my latest problem with my rr8 blade.
Engine has all the signs of crankshaft primary drive problem :( (sounds like a tractor when idling and goes quiet under load).
Local honda dealer has told me to source a replacement engine, as it would be cheaper and easier.
I'm not shy to getting my hands dirty but wanted to see if anyone had has the same problem and how easy it was to fix?
    Cheers.

Please try and post up a video / ride along with a GoPro to get engine sound.

Is it possible the Cam Chain tensioner needs renewal?

How many miles has the engine covered .

How long have you owned this bike for - has it suddenly started or been getting steadily worse ?

Hi, will try and post video this evening,
I didn't consider the cam chain tensioner although the noise is similar.
I have owned for 3yrs and have around 22K miles on the clock (had 2.5K when I bought).

Blade had been of the road for 3 months from end of May  with a faulty CKP sensor (just didn't have the time to investigate and fix)
had been back on the road for 3 weeks and while enjoying my ride home from work :D with a fellow biker in tow, I clicked from 5th to 6th and it didn't engaged correctly and slipped back to 5th with a clunk, which is when the noise started.

Having problems uploading video clip from the iPad, will have dust the laptop off and try. ( but have got to find the charger first)
And I'll upload a few pics at the same time.

Could be a cracked/broken gear in the cluster , don't know what year yours is but early 04-5 had gears made of putty , the later 06-7 had better . If the noise only happened after a dodgy gear change then I,d be looking there first. If you own a 04-07 then the transmission cluster will come out without dropping the engine lump.

That sounds bad, let me ask a forensic vehicle examiner to listen to it, he diagnosed mine 100% over the phone in 3 seconds.

You could invest in a boroscop linked to your pc to look into your spark plugs for damage in the top end.

Make sure you get one with a very narrow lens as sparkplug thread is very narrow on these bikes.

I must say it does sound like my engine did - I will send you a pm with details as I had better not put it in print at this point in time.

    My engine to compare
