194 miles to dry..............pretty impressive, bearing in mind, that's motorway blasting and heavy London commuting traffic, would easily go over 200 on a steady run.
170+ not uncommon for me, amazes me how many folk have no idea how to read / use the fuel computer on the 08 - 11 bikes to work out fuel / range left by pressing a couple of buttons.
I've run out loads of times playing chicken with the red light.... Usually lose lol... Red light = 30 mile roulette lol You ain't 'toured' until you've ran ya bike dry IMHO...
I average about 10 mpl (about 48/Imp Gal?). What I can't work out is (if you believe the advertising blurb) how do they get 40mpg+ out of a 'two ton/shaped like a brick' fekin RangeRover (ferinstance)?
Your R1 would be even more economical than the Audi if it too could cruise the Motorway at 80mph at 2.5K Revs!
Its called controlled environment.A rolling run.No stopping at lights and pulling away, no traffic etc.Parkers guide book gives an accurate average mpg if you're looking for/at a car.Real world figures in there.
Dead right Jimbo, the yellow light went on within a few hundred yards of leaving home yesterday morning, and I wondered if I could do 50+ miles on reserve! obviously not!, fell 1 mile short , what caught me out was this bike always goes onto reserve at 12.8 litre, so I was calculating that I would have around 4.5 litres on the reserve clock, it went dry at 3.8. Unfortunately I had to call International Rescue out with a jerry can when she was half way through cooking dinner, and after I had just done a 12 hour shift, can't say I was the most popular guy in the house last night when I explained what I was attempting to do.
When I first bought mine,I did the dreaded Mayday run.Well chuffed with the 72mpg when we got to Hastings, but boy was it boring in that traffic.Never again,we go a different route with no speed cameras nor plod
