Dont know if this has been done before (I guess it has), but I have made a bracket to bolt onto the standard under-tray in place of the big bee sting that holds the number plate. photo of the bracket below. I will post some fitted photos when its on. I will place one of those LED numberplate bolts into the third hole on the under-tray to illuminate the numberplate. the angle on the holes lends perfectly.
the only reason I have done it is because I currently have the R&G one on, but since fitting rear light with integrated indicators, it looks a bit wrong with the indicator mounting points still being there. If it looks good, i will sell the R&G undertray.
I have done it but i made a plate to seal the coffin shape hole . i also used the front 2 holes for the bracket and put an L.E.D in the 3rd hole your bracket is way better than mine thou lol.. Click my build thread n my signature Good work by the way
Tis fitted. I still need to find something to blank off the through hole and buy and fit the LED number plate bolt. Inside view with "bee sting" removed Outside view Bracket fitted Side view With No plate fitted
You can use 2 "L" brackets from B&Q to fit the indicators, and LED number plate bolts for neatness, negating the need for a separate plate light.. You can finish it all off by spraying it with Plasti Cote textured spray paint, in black. Just a thought, but it looks good!!!!
Steve, what used to blank off the hole, was put some tape on the outside of the under tray over the hole, then fill the inside with silicone sealant. you can get black. When it goes off, remove the tape and hey presto, you have a home made rubber grommet that seals the hole. Looks OEM when done too.
That look great Steve.....now I don't know whether to ask you to make me one or ask how much you want for the R&G, as I don't have the integrated light. Lol my blades gonna end up made of Steve Betts off casts Let me know mate!
Good idea Si! I'm toying with the idea of making a piece to completely cover the whole recess that took the "bee sting". I don't want it to protrude though, so it would have to be very thin.
Steve where did you get that integral indi and tail unit..... it looks good plus any chance of a cost to do me a tail tidy ?? looks the bollocks too
Thanks Rob. I bought the tail light/indicator unit from Nutty Tart. There are plenty on eBay though. I will have to have a think about the possibility of making more as I don't really have the time, but you are not the first to ask. I did this in a couple of lunch times with some stainless i already had. Maybe our Colin could make some?
"COLIN" seen a good idea for a tail unit......no patent so how about a 60 /40 split on orders !!!!! lol
Well that's just great isn't it....i design it, build prototype then Repsol "plagiarism" Rob steals the IP. LOL
i would nt stoop that low....but i ve a good idea though, how about forming a "in house production CBR 1000rr licenced products", i ve a mate who owns a cnc precision engineering company who might be persuaded to make a small run of items ??? and i aint joking !
Sounds like an idea! I can provide CAD solid models and detailed drawings. Basically, if i can draw it on my 3D CAD system it can be made.
Well thats it Steve you can head design team ! lol but seriously when you see the RG and other tail tidys are they really worth that much ? maybe we should just make them and give to the needy ! you know the type....they ve usually spent their hard earned dosh on a decent blade !
