Went to hospital to have my cast off.... Walked in, trainer in hand to get a smile from the dr who said... "Well I like your enthusiasm...." Cast off and little movement, hardly any feeling but struggled to put any weight on it... Obviously that's just as its been in cast and hopefully get better over next couple of days.... Really surprised how stiff it feels and little movement I've got and that after 6 weeks it's still bloody bruised.... Couldn't manage to walk and swelling still bad to the point i could hardly get my trainer on so now in moon boot for fortnight and then re assessed.... Waiting on physio appointment but tbh, might just book myself in private as now cast is off I just feel like I'm wasting time not getting it fixed! Gutted to be honest but least I can have a good scratch lol
With moon boot on I give you a couple of days and you'll be walking unaided.Them boots are simply brilliant. You will get bruising on your legs too but worth it.
But that would require common sense mate n that's not the way any government funded organisation works is it?
Until they got it off they didn't know if it was going to be re cast etc mate, but tbh can't complain really, the care I've had from both hospitals I think have been fantastic in all fairness....
I can walk without crutches with it but not far.... Like you say, will improve everyday and nothing major compared to some, was just hoping to be a bit more mobile from the off.
Mate when i had my casts off i wanted them back on i felt worse even sick .... It does get better try not to do much too quick buddy baby steps then dancing on the 29th
I remember getting the cast off my wrist in 2002.. and I had grown a werewolf arm haha.. back of my hand was hairier than a dog!
Well must admit been struggling last couple of days and with zero after care from hospital ("come back in a fortnight and we will have a look at it") thought I'd go and see a physio.... Got to admit it was half hour of torture.... But in my best interest... I knew the bone in my foot I dislocated wasn't right and he confirmed its sitting too low, but through weight and manipulation he's confident he will get that aligned... My tendons and ankle are froze solid, with next to no range of movement and have bad scar / dammaged tissue around all the breaks in particular the foot and metatarsals but it do have some strength which is a plus. Just got to get the muscles in my leg working and pumping blood again to help recovery... Going to go weekly for now (not cheap but worth it IMO) and he reckon 3/4 months before I get the full movement back but seemed positive although a little early to tell full extent. Hurt like fcuk but had a little movement after so got to help.... On the plus side, I've lost half a stone since I broke it so not all bad lol
As said mate, the first moments cast free feel worse than the accident. Worse still when the fracture clinic just says 'on yer way then'. I went to my go almost in tears it hurt so much. He was horrified that they gave me no phased recuperation or physio, gave me an aircast, then he sent me on my way too. Primary care, eh... For the next couple of weeks the pain steadily decreased as I put more and more load on it. It seems to be just reminding it what it's job is.
