Yeah but you have the alternative..... And tbh least it's usually clear! Try sitting for hours in Essex then get charged to leave the place....

    Joking aren't cha!

M6 through Birmingham is only just behind the M25 in the stationary Carpark stakes hence why the M6 Toll is a necessity if ya wana make some progress!

Only bonus is being able to practice ya F1 Race Starts at the Toll Booths with the other commuters! [IMG]

I think the tolls started back in the early 80's to pay for the first tunnel, then for the second tunnel, then for the bridges !!

Obvisiously it's profit making otherwise we wouldn't of sold it..

    It does F*** m* off too .

This still makes my blood boil, it's become a scam, the amount we pay in vehicle related duties and taxes is immense, why do we even have to pay for this 2 miles of road?

Now Londons Mayor the cleverly constructed public schoolboy buffon Boris Johnson....you know the a*se, all stupid and childish, but in reality the most aggressive and manipulative politician in the UK.

His roads department TFL are consulting on a new Thames tunnel crossing in East London to take the pressure off the botttleneck at the Blackwall Tunnel which is the first upstream crossing after the Dartford Crossing....guess what?

Both the existing tunnel and the new tunnel have already been designated congestion zones so they have stated they will start charging to cross the Thames at a point that has been free since 1897 using the same technology as the Dartford Crossing. No excuses here about building up a maintennace fund or the like, just plain highway robbery for the long suffering motorist, all this to fund his 1 billion pound investment in redesigning the roads to make them safer for the lycra clad pr*cks that break just about every road traffic law in the book.

So my friends welcome to stealth road charging on the sly using ANPR technology......................ain't so funny when you start to piece all this together is it?

I love the crossing especially when you got something tasty to blat out of the booth against.I got beaten by a GTR last night.I had to have my window down to hear it scream.Bloody awesome well worth my 4 quid:D
But for a commuter it must be hell doing that stint everyday. How about tolling it after 7pm then those that wanna play can pay simples;)

For some reason when ever I have to come back through the tunnel my bike develops a fault after the toll and slows right down...right up to the point when it gets into the tunnel then, The revs shoot up and it makes lots a noise...then for some reason I come out the other side with a BIG FAT grin.
If anyone knows how to stop this....Keep it to yourself!! lol
    :D:rolleyes::D

Addictive ain't it! I got pulled going through Medway tunnel with lots of noise.I told the polite copper that it developed a noise I couldn't pinpoint so tried hearing it through the tunnel.
Did you find the noise? Nah, I will have another bash on the way back:D

I am afraid my good man that would probably would end in prophetic words of Private James Frazer 'We're doomed, we're doomed, we're all doomed'

At least you talk some sense KB. Problem with society today is the lure of backhanders from corporations that don't give two hoots about quality of life or ethics just ££'s.Never forget crossing that bridge for the first time with my then boss telling me its short term toll fees to pay for the bridge then toll free thereafter.Ironically they named it Queen Elizabeth bridge which says it all really.
