Decided to use the blade today for the work commute as the weather is mild.
Went out to the car park to warm the engine through before home time, of course, the data tool has done it again, almost flat battery.
Spun the engine over a few slow revolutions but not quick enough to fire up.
So with the help of a colleague it was the old, shove down the car park routine to get back up and running.
It wasn't till a bit later talking to some of my other colleagues that one asked if it's safe to bump start the bike with it not being run and the chain tensioner possibly not inflated.
So that's what I'm asking folks, how safe is it bump starting an 07 blade.
I assume track bikes are bump started using the roller effort as in MotoGP and I'm pretty sure I've seen the TT bikes being push started after a pit stop.

Race bikes don't have electric ignition/starter to save weight

no probs bump starting a bike, use 2nd though not 1st.

I doubt The TT bikes are push started, just given a helping hand out the fueling station.although some race bikes that use the smaller batteries need helping hand off a booster pack when they are cold, but then are fine when warm.

Can the 08-14 bikes be push started due to the slipper clutch??

I have a slipper clutch on my bike and it bumped ok, though I did have a moment as we were getting ready to push when I wondered whether the slipper would make it futile.

Strangely I find it easier to bump in 1st, it seems to deal with the slipper better, dont know why.
The Knack is to get it moving as quick as poss and totally drop the clutch very sharply while dropping your arse hard onto the saddle at the same time.

Matt just picks the rear end up of his Bike with one hand and then flicks the rear wheel spokes round with the other hand whilst in gear, simple!

    I tried but failed :(
(Was on my own at the time mind you, would probably be OK with 2 people)

same here... Even pushing it downhill and jumping on the bike...it failed to start with a flat battery. Just bogged down as if the slipper was engaging.

My 09 Repsol blade refused to start just after I filled it up. Two kind blokes agreed to try and give me a bump start, but was having none of it. I think the headlight being always on drains the battery even more whilst trying to push start.
