I think the valve check is at 16000. It needed all eight exhaust shims.....so they said. It was £500. I remember that bit!
08 blade. 25000 miles. No problems. Serviced every 4000 miles. Replaced sprokets and chain at 17000miles.
Valves first checked at 50k - needed shims, part of £1,000 bill which included lots of work to be fair such as fitting QS and Brembo M/C and full service, pads, filters , dyno run etc.
Does it make a lot of difference to the selling price ? Picked mine up March 1st & done 4,700 this yr planning on keeping 3 yrs and will have 15k on it by that time when I part ex for summat else
My 08 has 18500 miles on the clock and getting good part exchange valuations so IMO you would be fine. Continuing the question on. At what mileage do you think value and ability to move on become a problem ?
From experience ... Mid 20k ... Certainly on Yamahas ... I average 12k per year hence will be moving this one on in 2yrs with around 25-27k on it.
2009 HRC 35K used daily, main things have been wheel/headstock bearings and fork seals. Starter motor fried at 20k odd but that was exceptional (and covered by warranty)
Best value I have had out of a Blade was on a RRY, picked it up on 4k miles and 6 months old for 4k off a guy who was emigrating and desperate to sell, moved it on after 3 years with 95k on it for 2.5k, now that's cheap litre (well 929) bike ownership. As for the worriers here, it never saw a valve check, and outside of normal consumables had 2 rear shocks and a couple of sets of brake discs and an occasional wash.
