The new alarm for the bike arrived today, so I spent an hour in the bike-shed and removed that bloody Datatool system. Was actually fairly easy, only 5 wires linked into the bike loom, which a quick look in the workshop manual identified what colours did what. The Datatool is getting re-used as the bike-shed alarm, I'm making a nice stainless box for it to go in so that it will be secure should any scumbags try to disable it, also it's going onto a 12v permanent supply with a truck battery as backup, the tilt switches are taken off and magnetic switches going on so the doors will set it off. It was quite the sense of relief and freedom taking that thing off the bike, the same sense of relief and freedom that I got when I got divorced oddly enough
NCS from fleabay, just a cheap jobbie. As long as it gives some chancer the surprise enough to make them think twice. The bike has 3 disc locks on when I'm out plus a ground anchor and decent chain plus in a high security steel lockup at home with it's own alarm.
