Totally agree, think we all thrive on a bit of conflict and general disagreement... Otherwise it would all get a bit boring!! "I hate police, think they are a bunch of w@ankers who in my personal experience have given me nothing but grief and the ones I've met seem to go out their way for an easy tug to boost their targets on us easy victim bikers!! Go catch some proper criminals!!" Now I personally think that's fine, don't agree with it but that's someones view, think even milky and benn wouldn't have an issue. "f*ck off you pig, get off my thread or it'll stop" This is just plain wrong.... Appreciate people are upset that we have lost a member who brought alot of joy to the forum, but how many more would we have lost if his personally offensive rants carried on. Got to be a line IMO
(in response to Remal) So why was a perfectly civil thread closed? This is NOT about the banning, this is about the closed thread last night which was polite, engaging and frankly, more interesting than a lot of stuff. There were no racist comments, name calling or 'bad' behavior in that thread. I completely agree that ground rules should be applied, but where do you draw the line - in fact, even your post above could be discriminating against gingers! So why not remove that too? What im saying/requesting is a Rants/Debate section which will have "enter at your own risk" type of warning on it. There people can voice their opinions with freedom.
If Chris wants it open, I say re-open it. I can take a certain amount of abuse if it keeps the entertainment level up, but if it really pisses me off I have a quiet word with the culprit and if it still continues I have a quiet word with the mods. Some people do it without thinking and just need reminding!
Rob felt it was the write thing is doing so. I will not say Rob, Dan and myself all felt the same but agreed it was the best thing to do in the end. A great loss I will say
Im not moaning about the banning - thats your decision as mods. I'm not demanding we re-open a thread. I just want to request a space/section to voice and challenge opinions as i think its a healthy thing to do.
Personally i think it will blow up and TBH i was glad when i saw it was closed A lot happened behind the scenes before a decision was made and people don't know this . It was not a spur of the moment ban in any way
ah i see .. Interesting idea actually We have a Forum suggestions section Maybe add a FAQ and complaint section ??
Zee you can say what you feel on any area of the forum as far as I am concerned but I will bring up Jimbo's reply. if you disagree with anything feel free to say so. but their is ways and means to express your feelings. hope that makes sense
Remal. Can I ask was this saying- ("f*ck off you pig, get off my thread or it'll stop") made by cabbie and was it in relation to benn? I'm just trying to work out how it got outa hand.
It was made by Cabbie and was aimed at another member of the forum that is a police officer . Cabbie also made similar comments at police in general . Other members have been drove of the forum because of the remarks and more where about to leave . Thankfully they have now returned
I'm sure this debate will be on going and is a difficult one. I think it was eloquently surmised by Jimbo. We can have debate / disagreement, but when it descends to personal insult and profanity, the debate has ended and it is Bullying. I think we know when we are having a laugh and the point at which that changes. This is a terrific forum full of like-minded decent folk.
Right, as i remember it before I went away cabbie had said as long as the piggs keep off his thread that was ok by him. Yes? Right if that's the case I presume it's all kicked off as a police officer must of commented on cabbies thread? Can someone confirm this please.
