A few years ago a few of you might remember I redone my garage. new roof, painted, new flooring etc... It's very nice and cosy now but one thing that is doing my head in is the Work bench. I have this one https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cwb1205p-5-drawer-workbench and I have to say it's the worst bit of kit I ever spent money on So I want something around the same size to keep my gear. I'm thinking if all else fails in the spring to make my own for the price of the wood. otherwise what work benches have others bought/use?
I'm eyeing up the 5.5ft oak sideboard my missus has disowned.I will have to ask a mate to give me a hand moving it cos its bloody heavy. Have you asked a Ducati dealer cos some lads have used the crates they come in as their benches.
I have only ever made my own workbenches, Matt. Generally specifically to fit kit I want to store beneath them. The only exception to this was when a company I worked for closed a branch and were skipping the counter of solid, 12mm ply a self healing plastic top and an inlaid brass yard stick. It would have been rude not to... The last few I've done for work have all had floor vinyl tops as I've found you can cut this and it heals itself quite nicely. There's no need for fancy carpentry. Have a go.

If you want a proper work bench for very little coin compared to others then I can highly recommend this lot. Industrial Workbenches | Benchmaster - Industrial Workbenches made in the UK We use them in our work (heavy oil engineering) so get seriously abused and stand up to it no probs. you can kit them out exactly as you want. Here's 1 of them.
You can ask for any length or width as they make them to order. Just ping them a message and they get back to you prompto.
haha When I seen your post Colin I thought £££££££ mega bucks but am surprised at their price. I don't think i'm going to need super heavy duty as it's going to be overkill for my little garage but I would like something that will last me many years and looks like you pointed me in the right direction. Cheers all for the reply's and given me something to look into over the christmas period I will be working.
I'm sure they do 2 versions mate. They do a less heavy duty bench than the 1's we use, but to be honest you'd never need their industrial benches in your garage unless you were proper using it every day.
