Hello! My lovely high-mileage 2002 blade developed a few engine issues recently so I picked up a 2010 1000RR-ABS this morning with only 2k on the clock and finding it rather nice I've had a few CBR600's and a couple of blades now, I do look at other models of bike but always end up with another CBR! Done a few track days at Brands Hatch, Lydden Hill and Almeria in Spain although I only really ride for commuting these days. The seat on the new bike is a little high for me and quite slippy so I'm thinking about lowering the suspension and getting a Honda e-cushion seat. Does anyone know whether lowering the suspension by a few cm makes speed bumps a problem? Sorry for the crappy pic - it's dark, wet and horrible outside! (but I've been out for a little blast anyway)
Good choice ... Same as mine but I don't have ABS. How do you find the fueling at low revs / small throttle movements? Get some tank grips ... Helps with the slippy seat but also stops you scratching the paint on the tank ...
Hi and welcome. Nice Blade you have there. I can't answer your question about suspension, but I'm interested in hearing the reply as I also find the seat a little high on my 2013 Blade.
Welcome mate. Great, lively forum here. You don't need a lowering kit for the blade. Get a pair of these beauties. Plus you get the proper 'shit kicker' look. Absolute quality.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I read up on the suspension linkage changes and it sounds like the front forks would need to be dropped a little at the same time, and possibly have the side-stand shortened. That's a bit of work just so I can get the seat lowered and have a comfy seat as well. I might just go for cutting a little seat foam out although I'm not in a hurry to do anything yet. The first corner I took at any speed just scared me a bit like I was riding a tall unicycle with a well waxed seat! I felt a bit more at ease today so maybe it's just a bit different and I'll get used to it. Mr OCD - I've not really noticed anything about the response at low revs so far. Do you have a mod in mind? The only thing that I have noticed at low speed is a small jolt when pootling along in 1st and going from drive to idle and back. RepsolPaul - North London Madfish2001 - I'll let you know if/what/when I do anything about the seat height Knighster - Thanks for the tip, but I'll pass on the Gene Simmons' little brother look
That's right going from open to closed throttle in 1st and 2nd results in shunting ... Holding a tiny bit of throttle in those gears at low speed also causes the same issue ... I.e. Commuting through heavy traffic ... At least it does with mine hence the question ... Pretty common apparently... And an issue I'm getting sorted.
