We will be out over Christmas no doubt, possibly a loomies run, keep ya eye out. Nothing wrong with a winter ride, as sps says improves your skill as long as you adjust for conditions
Agree I will stick to enduros plenty of skill to keep you sharp shaley section,snow,tree roots in forest,enduros taught me so so much totally different to road work in enduro you see danger you speed up but road bikes u see danger you ease off great for your skills in putting plenty of back brake on when trying to outbreak someone in front on a bend and its snaking all over ,you don't panic because you have the confidence in your riding
Nearly took the blade out today as it was mild 9c and dry roads, but family commitments prevented me. A few years back I was out on my SP2 on Christmas Day. I was single then mind.
This is my 6th winter with a motorbike as my only mode of transport I ride 365 days of the year... on very icy/snowy days I crack out the MTB. Man up Love the crisp cool weather, makes stopping for a bacon roll and hot chocolate so enjoyable! I'm usually out and about in the Reading/Oxford way... currently working towards my IAMs test so trying to get as many hours experience with other experienced riders as possible.
Good on you Ro! Just be careful on the slippy stuff though you'll be surprised how expensive the plastic are on a blade Bit far from you for your offer but ill be twitting it around the Essex roads until hypothermia sets in! lol
Have been out every weekend for the last month on my old RRX here in West Wales, not too much salt yet and even less traffic than usual. With heated jacket liner, insoles and gloves make it almost feel like summer except for a bit less grip. The other week I got home as it was going dark and cooling down a bit, the bike was handling fine and I was warm but but looked at the thermometer by the back door and it was zero deg c... Heated kit just transforms a winter ride, its like riding in your own sunshine.
Bart - can't agree more with you re: heated kit. I've got heated grips and am on the look out for some dinky heated insoles and gloves - not been able to find any so far if anyone knows where to locate size 4.5-5 insoles and women size small heated gloves... I'll do anything for them.
Been out today it was about 9c quick spin down the A272 to loomies rain washed away any signs of salt, roads not to bad tyres don't get up to temp to go flat out I go a gear higher than I normally would and go steady, it felt great to get out. Even cut the grass when I got back feels like a spring day not Christmas Will rinse off bottom of bike later but not dirty at all.
Cracking day today, I also headed to loomies, then from there I went to Bury Hill and from there to Box Hill, great road conditions had the shift lights coming on in third and fourth.
