Had the same a couple of times!

Ebay's answer is to let the seller respond to the case! 24 days to get money back on one thing

I've largely given up on it. I sold some leathers to a German bloke who pleaded with me to be allowed to bid despite my assertion that I wouldn't ship outside the UK. He begged until I relented and then he won the auction. I'd described the leathers as being about 6 out of 10 condition on the description and listed all the niggly faults and when he got them he was bleating about this mark and this little bit of frayed stitching etc etc. Ended up opening a case against me and eBay found in his favour. Ended up out of pocket for the return shipping of a big heavy box with leathers in it.

    NEVER again.

    Yup.......lesson learned.

I wouldn't care but the original shipping cost out to him worked out way less than the original quote I'd had. I could've trousered £25 but being the stupidly-honest prat that I am, I actually contacted him to let him know that I'd paid a lot less and that I'd issued him a paypal refund.

Next thing he's accusing me of being dishonest

Currently off e bay . sold my 06 tdi passat se to a guy who was nothing but hard work first off not turning up then wanting me to bring car to him for him to look at in the end he came over drove it and wanted it but for a grand and a half less than asking price. this is after he won the auction . i had to wait three weeks for him to turn up and pay and as i said he wanted to pay less than he had bid. the car had done 48000 miles with vw full dealer history and just had a cam belt and water pump done . i was second owner . it was spotless. i was livid the wife came out and told him to clear off or she will let me bounce him of our property which was a nice touch. All i reported to e bay and its mee with bad feedback left and still i had to sell the car . it went on autotrader the same night and was sold for asking price and picked up in three days. Not sure i ever want to go back on e bay. customer service is shocking .

Mark, I always thought you were quite savvy and streetwise. You've sent me into shock...;) Never trust any bugger overseas, at least in the UK you can pay the dunces a visit!! I find the trip quite enjoyable....

Rarely sell on ebay but recently got done over for return postage by a seller. Ebay were a waste of time and sided with the seller even though they had evidence of the seller saying they would refund the postage as they had sent the wrong item. Personally I only tend to buy low value stuff from there, or 2nd hand bike parts from people with an immaculate record.

Don't get me started on Romanians, Polish etc I know they aren't all the same but it winds me up.

    Feel for you mate.

I closed my account along with Paypal after selling a relatively low cost item to the USA, like you I didn't want to sell to the US but he went on and about "needing the item". he then won the bid for a fair bit less then I really wanted but, in good faith I did the right thing. I then estimated the shipping cost which he agreed to and the item was sent.

A couple of weeks later he is back on complaining that I had ripped him for the postage as it was 7p, yes 7p less than the estimate. demanding a refund of the 7p. I told politely told him to do one, it was an estimate he was happy with so some you win some you lose and over all he had got a bargain. Long story shortened. I get bad feedback, and ebay backs him up. I send the 7p back to him and close my account. Never again.

When selling now I almost always use it to advertise then do the sale outside of ebay either as paypal gift, bank transfer or cash in hand. That way you cant get stung quite as bad. I hate the fact that only the buyer is protected properly. Ive been scammed by a few bastards this year alone

Well I have sold a few things on ebay and had some annoying issues too.I only use it for buying now.
Selling is bloody stressful.Idiots wanting it for feck all, want you to ship it even though the item is pick up only 4x 20" X5 wheels with tyres!.Questions the advert because they don't believe you and people abusing their buying power by trying to get it for less money.I had one account closed due to selling n gauge trains for a relative and the grief I got from ebay asking me if the item was authentic. The trains were mint in their boxes with certs for fecks sake. Not one neg feedback.
I could sell paint but won't for the grief I would get.One of my customers decants my paint and sells it,but now he has had second thoughts of it.
As a buyer its great,as a seller no thanks.
