Yes I must agree to watch Vic Reeves ride the famous RG500 was like the loss of the great man him self.............TRAGIC !!!!!!!!!!!!...... half expected Bob Mortimer to pop up chasing him on Kenny's Yam....... Not a bad doc.....good to see some old footage
I really enjoyed that, wish vic had given the bike a bit more throttle but that bike still looks stunning
Great footage of that era - not too sure about Parrish getting his minutes of fame again but why was Suzi Perry interviewed to give her comments - she was only 7 when he won his last championship.
The program would have been a hell of a lot better with true bike racing enthusiasts on it. I fully agree with Steve Parrish being on it as he was Sheenes team mate and very good friend; however vic reeves was totally the wrong guy for this program.
Would have much rather seen someone other than Vic Reeves on the bike - Stavros would have made more sense. Overall it was worth watching, a real shame the man himself is no longer around.
Enjoyed watching it but as others have said it would have been better with another presenter. Very tempted to get my next lid painted in Sheene colours though.
The way they stripped that old 500, no messing about or seemingly concerns about cracking fairings etc on a piece of racing history Yet we strip our fairings and bikes like prima-donnas.... Vic Reeves on the bike was a double edged sword really, yes he didn't ride it like it should /could be ridden, but then again he's less likely to chuck it at the scenery..
A great bit of tv about a true legend ,Agree with having a slow rider on the bike as bet it's worth a few £££££ but would of preferred Guy Martin or James Whitham or Similar to present the show not bloody Vic Reeves can't remember the last time I saw him on telly he deserved a lot more than SP giving her views on him where was Shaky (BS and Shaky looked similar I thought)
I thought maybe Guy Martin, but a) it's BBC and Guy is contracted to C4 and b) it looked like it was probably the Barry Sheen weekend at Olivers Mount, and Guy was racing there...also the filming would have been right in the middle of the season so getting any riders to present the program would have been a big ask. But agreed Shakey or Jamie Whitham Great program, although I'm sure I've seen another documentary about him that was a lot more in depth..
I enjoyed it, Barry was a legend and I love watching all the old footage. Thought Vic was ok, and tbh seeing him wobble around on the bike just makes you realise how bloody good those guys were. Doubt they would of liked some modern racer spank that bike, must be worth a few quid as said. Matt Roberts might of been a good shout though, he's passionate about bikes, good presenter and can ride too! But for me the show was all about Barry so doesn't really matter IMO. Thanks for the heads up OP!
Pretty sure he raced mate (club / super sport level I think) but seen him ride with parish on a couple of things. Good point on Eurosport though lol
