Hi just bought my 2nd Fireblade, had a cbr900rr 10 years ago and at the grand age of 50 decided to give the Blade another go. So a bit crazy but bought a mint 07 repsol. So I go to Bennetts to insure it as my current insurer, having done an online quote arriving at the 180 area, me thinks awesome! So I called to ask a few questions and I mention its a Repsol, suddenly quote goes to over 600 quid with a 700 excess, its a uk bike no mods no extras surely the fact it has Repsol on it doesn;t increase the policy 3 fold??? v5 says its blue! advice anyone. BTW I have max no claims, passed test 25 years ago 2 claims in 5 years 1 my fault the other was non fault, protected ncb.

Welcome to the forum mate, I'd have a chat with there customer service and see how they justify the extra premium, if they can't justify it tell them you will be contacting the ombudsman about it

Sounds mad and something is up

I'm with Bennett's and declared a few mods like exhausts and a few other minor things and I've been riding 8 years, 8 years NCB, no points and 38yo, and paying around £250 fully comp protected.

    Do you live in London?
Only reason I hear people saying that are paying lots extra on insurance?

    And welcome

    I've also got a Repsol Fireblade, a 09.
Had just passed my test, 44 yrs old, good locks, alarm n garaged, fully comp, couple of mods, leathers n helmet cover come to about £330. Live on the SE London/ Kent border.

Surprised me how cheap it was online so just paid it in full.

Why on earth would they need to know it's an orange repsol? All they wanna know is model & engine size and year. And any mods that take the power up by 5% or more. Any other mods like exhausts huggers etc aren't covered anyway, you don't get paid out for them

The only reason paint should effect your premium
Is if you have had a custom job done. A custom job would cost say 1-1.5k and if damaged would most prob require a full respiratory as you can't just replace one panel etc
Make sure they have not listed as custom job

Maybe they have caught on that orange is the fastest colour!
