Having been riding now for 5 years, and come off near 5 times (not my fault)...I have decided to invest in some camera's for the bike... Anyone got any suggestions.. Maybe something small..one for the back and one for the front? Something that starts recording when the bike comes on..and stops when switched off (if at all possible) Am in the states next month..so hoping to buy from there... Any suggestions? Sam
You look for an automatic Dashcam as they are for cars, but just for motorcycles? Take a look at Techmoan Techmoan - Techmoan I found this site very useful about cameras. Techmoan tests everything except GoPro. This camera is probably a good choice Techmoan - Techmoan - The Mobius Camera - The do-it-all mount-anywhere 1080p Micro Cam. Small, cheap and robust, but not waterproof. I myself use a GoPro clone, the Actioncam SJ4000 (without wifi) Techmoan - Techmoan - At last it's the Real SJ4000 WiFi Review. With this camera, I am very satisfied. Accessories for GoPro fits 99.9%. Buk
Techmoan is excellent for cheap dashcams. He has a NC700 so is bike aware but I have only see him do automatic recording stuff for cars. There is at least one company that does what you want for a bike, and I think it costs about £200-300. Can't remember the name but it might be something like ridehawk. Google will be your friend but if you can't find it I will have a look later when I am home as I think I may have it bookmarked.
Can both of these camera's take a SD card? so can u pop a 32GB card in there..? and from what i can gather recording limit is 4GB per file..is that right? thinking if i were to do a road trip i could maybe record the journey? Yes there are fakes around and unless that is old stock then that one is fake. New ones have sjcam written on them.
Yes. I use a 32GB card in my SJ4000. For the SJ4000 it depends on the format of the SD card. Look here With a new firmware the camera also formatted SD card for files greater than 4GB. It is always useful to update the firmware to the latest version. The latest firmware can be downloaded from here SJCAM SJ4000 Action Camera Firmware - SJCAM Yes. It depends on the length of trip. For longer trips, the contents of the SD card must be copied to a netbook, or you can use multiple SD cards. For a day trip 32 GB is more than enough. I Think so. The camera looks just like my SJ4000. Its a version without wifi. The seller advertises no fakes for sale. For myself I don't miss the wifi feature of the new SJ4000 Cam. Wifi is just a gimmick. The built-in mini lcd screen is quite sufficient to position the camera correctly. 2¢ Buk
This is what the SJ4000s (non-wifi) look like now. As you can see they have added the SJCAM brand/logo to help identify it from the scammers. Probably the only way to know if the one for sale is real or not would be to buy it and try a firmware upgrade. Their website is SJCAM Action Camera - New way, new world! - SJCAM As for the seller I bought a camera from them about a year ago. First time I went to use it in anger it failed. I got it swapped out but had to post the old one back first, about £8 postage, but their comms weren't the best and it took a long time to sort. Since then bits have started breaking off it but I can't be arsed to try and sort it out and have just written it off as a learning experience about cheap electronics from sellers in China.
I bought an advertised sj4000 for 38 quid.. Could have been a fake not sure, works fine though only used it once but gives very good quality video. Only issue doesn't have as good white / black switching as the gopro, when the suns behind you and the camera is looking back at you forget it! Latest vlog is recorded with the camera, the footage pointing at me, looks better than the gopro at times as that looks grey and washed out!
