Going to remove the ABS system for racing, anyone know of any problems I'm going to run into? Also, someone mentioned a tilt switch that has to be removed for racing also ?? Any ideas? Cheers in advance.
No tilt sensor has to stop well it doesnt but when its on its side (hopefully it doesnt) you will want it too cut out just buy a race bracket tilt sensor bolts to front . Side stand switch and if remove left hand control switches this will remove the clutch switch HONDA CBR 1000 RR (2008-2015) RACE FAIRING BRACKET | eBay
well, and this is only from being told, not through experience.i'm not sure it can be done without throwing up problems.only reason I know is my m8 bought 1 to race and you couldn't re configure the lines to pass scrutineering,or remove the ABS system without electrical issues.i don't thinjk it's just a case of removing the plumbing and pump etc.like on the BMW. he sold his bike soon after for a non ABS model. have you looked into how to do it?
It can be done mate. It's is simply a case if removing all the plumbing and then the ABS ECU as it is a stand alone system.
Also how could he not configure the lines? All you have to do is fit standard lines in the conventional way.
like I said I don't know,I'm only going off what I've been told. the lines in ABS config. don't meet ACU regs that's all I know. 'but if it's as easy as that then fair do's.
Colin is right I done mine to the 600 last year back to conventional brakes and no issues at all like he says new braided lines abs pump and module out and unplugged, honda said to me it would not work but they would say that to cover themselves, you can just make out where I removed it I have to say I left a pipe behind rear master cylinder as I could no way get it out without removing engine but was disconnected
back to standard front and back from a brand new abs 600 RR freighting I know but t urned out well swingin arm off now on its way to lester at harris for conversion will post a pic when job complete
Bollocks to abs I have had 2 blades both abs and they were s..t I have to say hense why I bought a sp blade non abs ,u would have to pay me the £600 quid to get one not the other way round, honda needs to shape up and move the blade on as they are lagging behind the likes of bm and Kwak ,yam ,yes brilliant reliability but have to progress with tc and the likes
Well the reason i swapped my Blade for the zx10 was the abs, i was informed buy 2 separate dealers and Honda UK that the abs couldn't be removed.. Will be interesting to see the outcome...
Like I said Matt I have already done it can't see what the problem all u peeps have about it not a big deal simple conversion
I should have bought it round to you mate, might of kept the Blade if i knew it was possible, could it be that the 600 is different to the 1000??
The bike is a CBR650F, brand new, seems different as doesn't seem to a separate ECU, just one on the end of the pump and loom is in with the main loom. Started to take apart today and Finish tomorrow and order new braided lines. Cheers guys, everyone to the rescue with information, so love this forum.
There are only two model that utilise hondas combined abs system and that's the cbr1000rr and the cbr600rr's. Most other models utilise a Bosch abs system which does not use the brake by wire system that's plagued the inferior blade system.
That may be true Mat but you also got superior Power and Handling, a sweeter gearbox, TC etc and that warm fuzzy feeling that you're riding the same bike as Shakey!
Yes, when stripping it down we was joking about beating him to it and just denting the tank now as it going to happen for sure.
