A stone flicked up of a lorry the other day and chipped my windscreen Iv booked autoglass to come fix it asap and they said its all covered by my insurance and will be free to me . they confirmed it will not affect my no claims but I'm worried it may put my premium up a little come renewal day coz it has cost them to fix it . Anybody used Autoglass before ??
Jeanette had them to fix a chip in her screen on the insurance and it never appeared anywhere on her premium or NCB notification. It wasn't that invisible, mind. You can insist on a replacement screen but that will be treated as a claim.
Ive used them on insurance 3 or 4 times now, will not effect you NCB or renewal just costs your window excess £50 - 70 usually if it needs replacing and if they can repair/resin fill it it's free and it saves you £100's
Yep used them a few times over the years......no knowledge of premium rise as far as i can remember. ? stone chips are done free of charge i think ?
Yeah they said that .. I don't mind it not being totally invisible tbh , just worried about it cracking when we get frosts every morning and I'm heating the window to go to work
They said my insurance are paying the entire bill , or do you mean ill have an excess to pay in the future ?? that is acceptable anyway i guess
excess is only if they replace the whole windscreen otherwise it is 100% free as the repair is far cheaper for the insurance company than replacing your screen Besides you would pay autoglass the excess there and then not the insurance company
Best be safe the windscreen is the major structural component on a citroen lol Sorry could not resist it, you know I love the pocket rocket
The best thing with a crack is to drill a little hole just above its tip. When the crack reaches the hole it stops. That's why ladies have belly buttons.
I had a windscreen changed on the Merc when it cracked, but it took them a couple of weeks to get the right screen as the model was so new and has rain and lane guidance sensors in it. Did a great job in the end you wouldn’t know its been changed.I didnt have to pay a penny all went direct to insurance co.
I lost a windscreen on the way home once and Autoglass in Exeter didn't have one but Bristol did. The Exeter guy met the Bristol guy half way up the M5, collected it, got back to my house at about 7:00 pm took out the old one, cleaned up the mess in the car, including the blood, fitted the new one so that I could use it the next day. Pretty bloody good, I thought.
LOL. No it was my blood. My old and beloved Celica, pre laminated screens. Went off like a bomb. Funnily enough I was on my way back from a meeting with Devon & Cornwall SOCO's when it happened.
Well Autoglass came but said its been done before so they cant do it again No wonder it chipped so easy , Must have knocked out what was there already . Makes you wonder if its worth having done at all
