It would have obviously cost me more money for them to start tinkering with the suspension and i just didn't have any money left and decided to have it looked at later. Also if I'm honest i didn't put to much importance on the suspension...
This is what i will do scooby, on Thursday all they are going to do is check the springs and linkage to make sure they are correct and then give me a base setting. Once on track (18th Feb onwards) i will do exactly as you have suggested... Cheers buddy..
its the most important thing lol.... but i'm still running a bog stock front end mate so i'm sure it'll be fine. I just thought you had the front end done i.e internals etc so would of had it to suit. what is the front end currently? and shock? i'd be asking where ever you got it from as chances are it'll be fine and save you some cash sending it to the shop once more.
Matt needs a lighter rear spring on for his weight front springs ok slightly to heavy for him but I told him to get Kais to look at it.We both have ohlins suspension fitted . Matt is similar weight to what I will be(13 stone without gear ) I got a 10 spring on the rear Matt has 11 spring and I have 10 springs in the forks ,Matt has 10.5 but as its a different bike with electronic suspension I advised to take it kais something so important as suspension it needs to be right for matts progress to BSB
thanks mate, was wondering what he had - my question would be though, he's paid top dollar for this, from as shop that have "progressively built it" - why didnt they weigh / advise him of what he needs? i'd be having a chat with them before I threw more money at it with someone else.
The shop i got the bike from who fitted the rear suspension are poo to put it mildly, i would get better results doing the settings myself blindfolded. Yes i did speak to them and let them know what i thought of their service, Kawasaki UK even phoned me asking me kindly not to be so abusive towards them as they had complained about me shouting at them.. Kais have agreed to have a good looking at things and advise free of charge but speaking to them on the phone this morning they think my springs maybe OK as the Zx10 tends to need heavier springs. So with look all they will be doing is setting the suspension for my weight and then go from there...
To be honest I'm being serious mate, neither the Blade nor this bike has had the suspension set for my weight and besides the tiny bit of understeer all seemed good. Because the Blade ran so amazingly well with the wrong settings for my weight i put it down to the suspension not being so important... However a big lesson learnt...
I Good news if the rear spring is ok for you saves you a few ££££ just goes to show what's good for one bike set up can be totally different on a different bike when it comes to spring weights ,you might find they advised a heavy spring as they no you will be loading the rear end with extra force with your entry/exit corner speed .
Ok numbers done, slightly smaller than the rules state but who cares also tried the new leathers, boots and gloves on and they fit perfect
